@joffreyjaffeux just merged in the brand new emoji picker:
This topic is for tracking feedback:
Open issues:
Clicks are be re-bound causing a single click to add multiple emojis (filter to a word, clear filter, filter again, click emoji)
Clicking anywhere outside the picker should close the picker.
Some of the CSS is impacting non-emoji stuff … like having a round hover on search results
Recently used emojis logic is too fancy, is should just push recently used to the first in the list
It would be nice if the picker moved with the composer at the same time when resizing
This visual issue on composer is new

I have been reading about anonymous posting for Discourse and I want to have anonymous posting on a per-category basis.
Here is what I am looking for:
- Anonymous posting would be enabled by administrators for specific categories
- User registration would be required for all posting
- Anonymous posting would only be possible under the defined categories
- Anonymous posting would be required in anonymous categories
- Moderators would post anonymously as usual but would have the ability to make their posts non anonymous.
Is this possible? Is there any other anonymous system that is built in?
Requiring registration and allowing moderators to see the names of anonymous posts would be a good way of controlling how civilized users are. Fully anonymous discussions like image board scripts make it easy to troll and post low-effort content because there is no effort needed to register and moderators don’t see a name with each post. This means that they can’t track the reputation of a user and decide to take action based on a pattern of behavior even if no single post would necessitate action.

It used to be possible to conceal multiple spoiler lines like this:
[spoiler]Darth is Anakin
Rosebud is a sled
Everybody dies[/spoiler]
But this no longer works.
You can still do a mid-line spoiler like this but multi-line spoilers require the [spoiler] tag to appear on a line by itself.
[spoiler] multi line spoiler [/spoiler]
Can we get the old behavior back?

Continuing the discussion from Multi-line inline spoiler no longer works:
I wrote this as an example:
In the editor preview pane, both paragraphs are bolded, but when I submit the post, only the first paragraph is bolded.
Regardless of what <b> should actually do in this case, the preview pane and the post result should never differ in this way.

Anytime a staff action is performed like closing or unlisted a thread, it would seem Discourse records this as a reply. It contributes to the reply count, and the staff member is listed as a participant on the topic.
Is there a way through customization (doesn’t seem possible with settings) to disable this? We’d prefer users to not see what actions are taken, and have made some modifications to hide the status posts. It’s a bit confusing to see that a staff member has participated on the thread when they haven’t added a real reply.

Continuing the discussion from HTML <b> across paragraph breaks differs between preview and result:
The editor bug is still there as far as I can see.
To reproduce: on meta.discourse.org or try.discourse.org, type two paragraphs with double line breaks separating them like this:
foo bar
Select the paragraphs, click the gear, and click “Blur Spoiler.”
Actual: The editor inserts spoiler tags inline at the start/end of the selection, which used to work, but which no longer makes a multi-paragraph spoiler.
[spoiler]foo bar[/spoiler]
It renders like this:
[spoiler]foo
bar[/spoiler]
Expected:
[spoiler] foo bar [/spoiler]
foo
bar

Hi,
I have a short question.
I added a CSS class to my theme.
.dropcap { font-size: 300% !important; width: 0.7em !important; line-height: 80% !important; float: left !important; color: #808080 !important; }
Usually instead of
.dropcap
I would have usedspan
. For Discourse that’s not a good idea. The CSS theme editor doesn’t like you to mess with span due to the syntax highlighting.
<span class="dropcap">I</span>
can use Dropcaps. Not.The class isn’t usable…
I have stuff in my CSS like
.topic-body{ min-width: 65%; }
Works. But I cannot define new classes? Is there anything I am missing?

I came across a little bug while updating a topic.
I used the bbcode url for an old topic and some links in this url had a tag (for a partnership). In the preview and in the published post, the tag disappeared. I fixed it quite easily by using a html link instead but I think it is relevant to share this little issue. I may cause an issue or two with a phpbb/ipb importer.
I’ll give an example. I’ll invent an amazon tag on some product. In the onebox, the tag works perfectly.
In a markdown url and in a html link, also.
But in a BBcode link the tag disappears.
It affects also an url with the characters & in it
But everything works if we remove the = character, like this.
For a native Discourse, there will not be any problem, so it’s really a minor bug I think.

As discussed in other topics here, adding tags is something that often needs to be done by experienced users rather than the people posting questions.
Which is fine - however this tends to get done in batches, every few days - expecting mods to do it continuously is not really an option.
Then the issue is that all the updated topics get pushed back up to the top of the feed, pushing newer topics down where they will not get the attention they deserve.

I had a vote on a topic, but later removed it; the number of votes is reflected correctly. However, the details of who voted still includes me:
…and thus shows thirteen people.
I’m not sure if this affects just the currently-logged in user, or all users who’ve removed their votes.
It looks as though the query to determine who voted happens here, but when I run that query directly using Data Explorer, my name isn’t included. I’ve also validated that the post in question has no
votes
orvotes_archive
records inuser_custom_fields
for my user, so I suspect this is a JS display issue.

My site suddenly can’t send mail to users today. In

I see a lot of emails saying:[Sender] 501 mail from address must be same as authorization user
Is there any way to see detailed email sending log so I can find the exact problem?
Also, I changed “reply with email” settings yesterday. Is this related to the problem?

Currently, using the “Share a link” or copying the URL associated with a post’s timestamp results in a URL that contains the username of whoever does the copying, if that person happened to be logged in at the time. This poses some privacy concern: If the link gets shared around, possibly forwarded multiple times, it exposes who was the original person to create it – like a watermark. While it is possible to just remove the
u=...
, this is easily forgotten when just copy-pasting URLs around. After all, users do not typically expect a URL to leak information like this. I also tried hard to come up with a good reason for why the username is in the link, and failed – I suppose there is a reason, but I wonder if it is worth the cost? So, please remove the
u=...
at the end of posts’ URLs.

So, I managed to import my age old forum into Discourse, and I madea Discourse backup of it. Later I will put it down in a production environment and make the static archive. Right now I’m on a developoment build. But now I’m running into a problem: I would like to clear out the database and insert my second forum into Discourse, so that the old forum is removed.
I tried a few threads below, but they didn’t give me the answer I need:
I even tried
cd /;sudo find|grep shared/standalone
, but didn’t find the thing to be removed. Please advise!

I just noticed that the links to discourse threads are oneboxed differently if there’s a

in the end.See links here:

Namely, that the last one, with the trailing slash, adds the Discourse logo, and the first one does not.

This is probably a very silly question but I need to link to the forum from another website with a search query but any search queries I run come up with the wrong answers.
For instance, if I want to search for DN1 via
../search?q=DN1
, it also comes up with DN10, DN11,DN101, etc. If I try something like../search?q=DN1%20
it just strips the whitespace and comes up with the same result. I tried various other ways but cannot find the correct search query to run. So what is the correct way? Thanks!
