Forum CDN assets (CSS/JS) requested from newly registed domain discourse-cdn-sjc1.com are being blocked by Forcepoint’s Websense Content Gateway. As such, I see a blank page as no CSS or JS are being loaded.
A newly registered domain seems to be one registered within the past three months.
i particpate on another discourse forum, where my image doesnt not show up in my posts when i use my website address as my signature. In the preview section to the right, I do see the image, but when the post is displayed in the forums, theres no image.
my site has all the meta tags correct, and even fully passes W3C validation. Also, when posting it on facebook, it works correctly there.
I looked at another user’s image in his identical setup, and the link to his OG image in his meta headers image shows it is url in his website, but in the actual picture in the forum itself, the image is hosted at https://discourse-cdn-sjc1.com/standard5/uploads/…
how it it hosted by the external discourse system? any by what sorcery does his meta headers translate to elsewhere when the image eventually is rendered on the webpage?
Im putting my URL here now, and I see the image popped up i nthe preview to the right. I click “Create Topic” to see if the image makes it to the webpage…
I just completed my discourse setup and everything is working fine and great. But it is not running on mobile neither in Opera in PC. It works fine in Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer On PC.

In our community, we have a problem with users collecting badges – as in, contribute in a nonconstructive way for the sole purpose of attaining badges. For instance, they might:
Like every post on a thread
Flag a post for no reason
Mention users pointlessly
etc
to get the respective badges. Sometimes it’s easy to notice, but other times it’s not and we only find out because someone brags about it off-site.
This is on an invite-only community where we generally try to restrict membership to mature users, so I would think we wouldn’t be the worst hit, but maybe it’s the opposite since we have a small community (maybe 200 active users). Our solution was to disable all badges instead of starting a witch hunt, but I’m curious how other communities handle this. Is this a problem in your own community? How much of a problem is it? How do you deal with it?

Would it be a big deal to add sort by “Oldest post” and “Oldest topic”? I’m probably not the only one who sometimes wants to be able to say “The earliest topic/post in which this was mentioned is…”
Our content stretches back to the '90s, so narrowing down by calendar is a bit tedious.
We have a website and an associated discourse forum where users come to talk about our stuff. We want to set up a feedback form on the website so that visitors could send us messages (with their contact information, such as email or phone number or whatever, so that we could reach them back later). It would be awesome if the form could integrate with OAuth rather than requiring the user to type in their contact information manually.
I’m wondering if we could somehow implement that using Discourse. I know that Discourse supports new-topic links where the category and stuff can be specified in the URL, e.g. https://meta.discourse.org/new-topic?category=feature. If the user is not authenticated, Discourse would conveniently and automatically suggest them to log-in or sign-up using OAuth, which is super cool. However, we can’t make the feedback public for other users to see.
Is there a sensible way to approach this with Discourse, or am I trying to abuse it too much?
I just got a message from a user that he is unable to log in to our community using the Discourse app on a Samsung device. Since I use a Samsung phone too, I disconnected and tried to reconnect. I am now also unable to reconnect to the community, I get the message’… was not found’.
We have tried this on different devices, and we’re only having problems on Samsung devices running Android 7.0. Does anyone else have this issue? Any idea what we can do about it?
It is great to be able to demo Discourse as a user; is there a way to demo Discourse as an admin? Understanding the options and way that Discourse is run from an admin perspective is an important part of evaluating it as a platform overall. In advance, thank you for your time and insight.
Our forum is talking about the upgrade from EmojiOne v3.0 to v3.1. For some reason, emojione.com decided that v3.0 would appear on their website in PNG, so I can link to them in a Discourse post, but v3.1 uses SVG. When I try to paste that into a forum post (so I can do an A/B comparison) it doesn’t work.
We are in the process of closing discourse site and making it only read only html static pages. We do not want to maintain any user accounts, badges, points etc.
I wrote a post on my discourse to introduce the emoji “skin tones” and added a string of emojis to the end of the title to make it glaringly obvious what I was talking about.
Here’s how it looks in the email summaries - note the first two are just blue squares, and the last one is a pink square followed by … I suspect the last one got truncated part of the way through the emoji code. (which I suspect is hard to avoid given how short the title can be before it is truncated. An issue I’ve lamented elsewhere)
I had this nice conversation that I wanted to pin globally as a banner. However, I wanted to edit the first post so the pin is inviting. As I’m a smartass, I decided to create a ‘Site Banners’ category under /c/staff, visible to Everyone. Then I proceeded to create a topic and hit ‘Banner this topic’.
Whew, nice, it worked! Er…
But then, I had a link to that banner topic appearing at the end of the original conversation… So I decided to close the banner topic so that people would simply come back to the original discussion, and…
Yes, I could reply to a closed topic… Not what I expected.
Hacking It Anyway
So, I proceeded to move all posts from the original topic to the banner topic, gave the first post (the banner) to the original poster, and it was as if I had inserted the banner post before the existing topic. Sort of.
Questions
Isn’t replying to a closed topic a bug – even if it’s a banner?
Is there a marker for staff to edit the first post of an existing topic, e.g., before -- on its own line, to insert the banner text?
Is that something you would like to do (inserting a ‘banner post’ for an existing topic)?
As a new topic can be created by pasting a link, I tried sending a message with a link in the Subject.
I was expecting the same behavior as with pasting the link, but the created topic was named after the URL, without a link.
I can think of a bad use case where anonymous emails are authorized with staged users, and spammers would send their click-bait URLs straight in. Otherwise, I think it would be nice to benefit from the automation of pasting URL to create a topic from a link via email. What do you think?

I develop an image hosting script (Chevereto) and I’m building a universal JS plugin that aims to add external image hosting support for a wide range of forum CMS and websites in general. The idea is to achieve this without the need of a custom plugin for each CMS. So far I’ve added it successfully to IPB, Vanilla, XenForo, etc. The plugin is quite straightforward: It detects vendor, editor function and it picks a sibling to append my button element next to it.
For Discourse, I’m having issues since the editor template gets parsed on demand and I’m unable to find a good way to achieve this without the need to add some event handler or hack some object containing that section template.
I will like some guidance here in terms to try to get this to work without breaking something else. Please keep in mind that I’m aware of this workaround but like I said earlier, I’m building it as an external plugin so I will look into that only if the external way is not reliable.
