Hi,
There are two behaviours that I would like to change.
When we migrated from vBulletin, our users images were imported as small images and display fine in the circle avatar but the images stretch to fill in the user profile banner image so it appears very pixelated and I would rather to show a standard coloured background maybe, or nothing, anything better than a bad image.
Also, in the mobile application, the image is tiled instead of stretched.
Any ideas on how to change these?
Thanks.

Hi there…
we are interested in an open-source solution for a forum to use it as a partner-forum and later also implement a customer-forum. As we offer two different products with two different user groups (stakeholders) those forums may be set up in a different way.
The differences will be the…
- sign-up process (we sign-up and permit our partners; self sign-up)
- accessibility (protected; public)
We have our requirements-list, although not everything is totally clear at the moment. Basically we are evaluating and comparing Discourse and Vanilla Forum right now.
However, I realized that there may be differences between the cloud and open source solution which makes a comparison difficult.
Simple requirements list: (! = important)
- ! Open source
- ! Preferred on-premise
- ! Mobile support
- ! Theming (CSS)
- Analytics
- Multiple languages (for customers)
- ! Single Sign On (SSO with SAML or oAuth)
- ! User groups or permissions if we run our “forums” (customer product A, customer product B, partner) on a single instance) -> this is not clear yet at all how we want to set it up
- ! Allow private community
- ! Allow self-signup
- ! Allow confirmation / activation by us after self-signup (manual or semi-automatic by email-domain)
- ! Roles (reader, contributor, moderator, admin)
- ! Categorization or tags, flags, channels, sub-forums to structure content
- ! Formatting of text (HTML Editor)
- ! Attachments in forum posts (simple drag & drop and inline images)
- Allow editing after forum post was sent
- Spam control (only relevant for public forum, not important at the beginning but essential to be ready for the future)
- Ready to use Elasticsearch for future improvement
- Ready to integrate Salesforce for future improvement
- ! Access to API
- ! Notification emails + notification menu + notification settings for user
- ! Watch or subscribe discussions
- ! Mention other users
- ! Quote other users
- Vote up/down of answer posts
- Gamification elements
Maybe you can help out with that to support the decision making.

Hi, I’m experiencing what I think is a bug on my private forum but maybe somebody can tell me if I’m just misunderstanding something.
There is a topic which I marked as muted so I would no longer get its notifications, but doing so completely hides this topic and the only way I have found to access it is with a direct link.
I am not able to see the topic via:
- The landing page (categories) right-hand Latest column.
- The dedicated Latest page.
- The category index that this topic is a child of.
A little bit about my setup:
- I am an admin on this forum.
- The category can only be accessed by a specific user group.
- I am not a member of this user group.
Where am I supposed to be able to find this topic listed? Personally I would find it reasonable for a muted topic to appear in all 3 of the lists mentioned above, but the category index especially.

What’s the difference between:
1.Automatically unpin topics when the user reaches the bottom
2.Automatically unpin topics when the user reaches the bottom by default
in the admin setting?
A Bug: I turn off the Automatically unpin topics when the user reaches the bottom by default, while I keep the automatically unpin topics when the user reaches the bottom enabled. And I turn off the automatically unpin topics when I reach the bottom in the interface of user profile. But the globally pined thread still get unpined automatically.

hi all,
We are looking into which files our users may want to share on our instance. Some could be a malware nightmare!
Are there any file extensions or uploads that aren’t supported on a hosted plan?
Thanks,

Hi,
Over the past week, we’ve migrated our community to Discourse. Our experience so far demonstrates the power of open source:
To complete this migration from start to finish within a week is incredible. But what was interesting to me is that it came together with a globally distributed team from the official Discourse team to members of the Discourse community. Open source for the win: quality + speed + affordability + options for clients, plus sales and profit for the project.
Overall, I’m very pleased with the new site and look forward to our journey with Discourse! I’m grateful to everyone who has invested in this project and made Discourse what it is today.
Edit: I was asked to provide a link to our site. To honor the request, here it is: http://rzimconnect.org

Is there a way to display all images in a topic? or it should be done by a plugins?
It would be a great function if the user can filter out all images within a topic.

So we upgraded our community forum to the latest version available at 1 month ago (v1.9.0.beta11 +96) but the permission system is now broken (granting moderator/admin permissions).
We really appreciate some help!

Remember 2013? The year of Frozen, Yeezus, Google Glass, and when Discourse looked like this:
Now you can relive the past with the Discourse Classic Theme
Unlike Discourse in 2013, The Discourse Classic theme supports desktop and mobile devices, multiple badge styles, and light/dark color schemes.
Feel free to import it to your own Discourse install, or try it out here on Meta by selecting it from the hamburger menu (also in your personal preferences under “interface”).
Please report any bugs you may find, and let me know what you think!

Oh just realized that non-logged in viewers see the same thing.

I keep my forum’s server behind cloud flare due to a large amount of attacks against the site. The link previews and emails can leak the server’s backend IP Address. The email issue was resolved by setting up a SMTP relay that strips headers (if the user pulls email headers to get the IP, they get the relay and not the forum’s IP). Is there a way to make the link previews go through a proxy server?

Steps to reproduce:
- Go to your messages page in Safari
- Click “New Message”
- Add a user
- You’ll probably see this:
It seems like Safari isn’t redrawing when .add-warning
is added, so the CSS isn’t being applied properly. This is a somewhat common Safari problem (not sure if we’ve run into it before elsewhere).
This is fixed when I look at @zogstrip’s flexbox composer, but I can also look at it tomorrow and see if there’s a smaller immediate fix…

Best would be to have an admin-only adjustable Title URL setting to make the title a link, per user.
Is there any plugin for this, or is it planned as a feature by the Discourse team?
