Categories with allowed Tag Groups

Here’s a strange scenario.

A category has a defined allowed tag group.
When you create a new topic within this category and create a new tag, this tag is unassigned to any group. This is a contradiction, because an unassigned tag isn’t allowed in our category.
Shouldn’t a new tag be assigned to an allowed group by default?

Unapproved Posts are also shown after MyBB import

Hi There,

I am trying to import a MyBB forum with many posts. Everything is imported using the import script along with those posts which are not approved by admins. This also added a lots of spam posts into the migrated forum. Since a lot of posts are spam, its not possible to manually find and delete the spam posts.

I can reset the development install and import again if any of the users are kind enough to tell me how to import only approved posts from mybb forum.

Thanks

Why would I want to remove nofollow from user links?

@tophee wrote:

I think I understand the purpose of adding rel="nofollow tags to links in user posts: it’s basically telling search engines “this link is not endorsed by this website” in order to make spamming (or rather spamexing) less attractive. So it makes sense to do that on any forum.

But discourse allows me to exclude certain domains from that policy using the exclude rel nofollow domains site setting. I can also turn it off all together by unticking the add rel nofollow to user content setting.

But I’m wondering: why would I want to turn nofollow off at all? Is it just to help search engines distinguish between good and bad links (I guess that’s why TL3 users are exempt from nofollow by default) or is there any benefit for my forum? Which domains have you exempted (except your own)?

JavaScript embedding doesn't add directory slash importing image paths, breaks images

@quimgil wrote:

This looks like… a simple bug?

Note the slash missing in “catmedia”.

I didn’t find a report for this bug, although this one might be related: Embedded topics don’t handle “//”-images properly

Can anyone reproduce? Or is there a fix that we could implement on our side? (other than defining images with absolute URLs, which we could do moving forward but what about the articles already published)

[Paid] Embedding: Allowing one RSS feed and one username per host

$

@quimgil wrote:

What would you like done?

Currently the Embedding feature allows to define multiple hosts, but only only one RSS feed and one username to import posts.

The feature requested would allow to define RSS feed and username per host, adding them to the existing table.

For what is worth, I had posted a similar feature request without gathering enough interest: Embedding: one RSS feed for each host. This is why I am willing to pay for this feature now.

When do you need it done?

Sooner better than later, but it is not urgent.

What is your budget, in $ USD that you can offer for this task?

Not knowing the amount of work involved, I cannot asses. A fair price.

DNS problem after following installation guide

@Judith wrote:

I followed the standard installation guide: setting up a new droplet on DigitalOcean, unpacking the Discourse image there, linking it up to our SparkPost mailer and so on. Everything works perfectly - kudos to the team for such a painless process! - and I can access the new site via the IP but not via its intended subdomain. I previously added subdomains to our site by setting up A records on Cloudflare pointing to the IP of the server, and having Apache virtual hosts on the server. This new droplet however doesn’t appear to be using Apache virtual hosts, and simply creating the A record on Cloudflare with the droplet IP doesn’t do anything - Cloudflare gives a 521 Webserver Down / connection refused error. What should I be doing?

How to set which options are available for flagging?

At last for most people.

I’m a member there and don’t have these options a regular says they do have it, but a moderator confirmed he doesn’t.

Where would the admins find the option to change that?

Image Annotation

@JimmyBoy wrote:

Hi,

First post, apologies if in wrong section.

Something I like to do is write tutorials / guides on how to do things. As part of the process I may include a lot of screenshot’s with markup (I currently use macOS preview), to give a visual representation of what I’m talking about.

It would be really cool and a huge time saver in this use case if there was a built in tool for annotating images (Arrows, Rectangles, Numbers etc…)

Im not sure the best method of implementing this (I’m new, don’t understand all the workflow / features yet). In an ideal world, I would see my image in the preview and when hovering over the image in the preview I would see a ‘Markup’ button to allow me to Markup the image.

I created a few mockups to try and visualise what I am saying. Unfortunately, being a new user I can only submit 1 image per post, so I have had to separate the posts for each image. If a moderator wants to merge them all into the original post, that would be good.

Please help! I have tried everything for email. I have completely reset my CPANEL host, I have tried every single port, I have tried every single option, simply nothing works. Currently, I am receiving “Job exception: execution expired”. This is very frustrating, because earlier I had received a separate error saying that the domain did not match the certificate. I can log in to the same email with the same credentials on outlook or another client, but it simple wont work for discourse! Please help!

Take Action button fails to hide posts by staff

@wolftune wrote:

Continuing the discussion from "Take Action" button failing to hide self-flagged posts by moderators or admins:

Steps to reproduce:

  • Post using a staff account
  • Make sure “allow flagging staff” is checked in settings
  • Log in as another staff (but also happens if you flag your own staff post)
  • Flag via “Take Action” button

Expected behavior: post is flagged, hidden, and PM from system sent to the poster (same as for non-staff posts)

Bug behavior: post blinks hidden for an instant, comes back and remains not hidden, no PM is sent.

Default group title is not being applied consistently

@Biscuit wrote:

When I assign a member to a custom group, they don’t always display the specified “Default title for all users in this group”

On some occasions it works. On other occasions, the member has retained “Regular” as their title, despite:
a) the option to automatically set this group as primary group being selected &
b) the “default title for all users in this group” being specified.

The group flair seems to be assigned more reliably, but the title is inconsistent, forcing me to manually change the individuals title. Is this a known issue?

Just a minor bug here.

Repro Steps:

  • Enter a topic with a few existing replies
  • Hit reply on the first post
  • Scroll down past the last post with the composer open

Additional notes:

  • Can reproduce in desktop Safari, Chrome and Firefox
  • Browser window must be small enough to where the composer is touching the edges of the window
  • It seems to trigger when topic-progress indicator detaches from the composer and docks to the last post

Seems to go away with:

#topic-progress-wrapper.docked {

Domain DNS setup?

@Drew_Ridley wrote:

Hello. Currently, I have no way of using port 80 to host my webserver. To work around this, I have setup the port forwarding to translate all port 80 traffic to port 8080. I have a domain, bigjetstudios.com. I was wondering what DNS records I need to add so that the url says discourse.bigjetstudios.com? I have already set this domain inside discourse, but currently I am accessing it using myip:8080. I have also tried setting up a no-ip port redirect, to no avail. Thanks, Drew.

UPDATE: I have found out how to host on port 80. Still, I have no idea how to setup domain.
