IFrame CSS Code - Disable Scrolling Bar

@fellowshipforums wrote:

Hi All,

I am trying to removed the scrolling bar feature in an iframe. I am using the following code, (overflow and scrolling commands) but it does not seem to be working - the iframe is still scrolling when the mouse hovers over it.

<iframe style= "overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" src="https://ruwix.com/widget/stopwatch-gen/"></iframe>

I have also tried adding this to the CSS customization page:

iframe {
  overflow: hidden;
}

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Should 'restore topic' be logged in the staff action log?

@David_Taylor wrote:

When a topic is deleted, we get an entry in the staff log: “topic deleted” (unless that topic is owned by the staff member who pressed delete).

If that topic is then restored, there is no log entry made for the restoration.

This caused some confusion on my forum today (multiple admins deleting/restoring topics at the same time). I think it would be good to add a ‘restore topic’ event to the staff log.

Invalid nonce error

@shahidmir wrote:

So I am trying the following:
Client logs into my app via Auth0 authentication.
On successful authentication, an Auth0 rule kicks in and makes a callback to a page in my app which has a hidden iframe. This hidden iframe simply does a login to disclosure, so when the client clicks on the forum link he will already be logged in.

I am encountering a problem with the payload that is being sent to the disclosure sso URL.
The “nonce” is invalid/timed out.
Since the login is not being initiated via disclosure, I am generating a nonce in my Auth0 rule and sending that back as part of the payload to the disclosure sso URL.

Im unclear on how the nonce works so would appreciate some assistance. Is there a way to disable the nonce check in disclosure? if not, what do I need to do to get this to work?
I imagine disclosure is rejecting the sso login attempt because the nonce it received is one that it did not send in the first place.

Normal, when we setup permissions category for a group, all of subcategorys this main category don’t effect. We must setup each subcategorys in main category. So long time!

Is there a limit to number of posts shown in json feeds?

@lightweight wrote:

I’ve got a script reviewing topic feeds on our Discourse implementation, but I’ve found that it only returns the first 20 Posts (some of our topics have more than 20 posts)… is that a hardcoded limit? Is there any way to return the json feed in reverse order, with the newest first?

Our script runs every few minutes and would be more likely to see all the posts in a topic if they were provided by the feed with most recent first if there’s a 20 post limit to the topic feed… Is there any way to get a full list of posts in the topic? Example: https://forums.oeru.org/t/133.json has a post_count: 29 but only the first 20 (0-19) are shown from /1-/20…

I could use the post_count to look for further ones, but things get tricky because presumably there could be deleted post (missing ids) and it’d be very inefficient to try to them all in sequence, counting as I go, and discarding any missing IDs from my count…

Is there another mechanism that I’m missing? I have discounted the Post IDs shown in the post_stream, as the IDs (if I use /p/postID or /p/postID.json) get redirected to the HTML version of the post which isn’t overly helpful…

Hi all,

Curious if it’s possible to auto-approve new accounts based on email domain? Or is this something we’d have to leverage the API to do?

Cheers

Automatically add a space before the emoji if the user is typing Chinese and uses emoji picker

Hi Discourse team:

I have been using Discourse for 4 years and love the modern design and quick update. Thank you!

Recently I have noticed some issues in my forum, that in China, we seldom use spaces like you do in English, so basically every emoji from emoji picker is screwed like this:

呵呵:thinking:

Which is annoying and confuses most Chinese users. Can you think of a way to improve the Chinese user experience?

Thank you!

Reproduction steps:

  1. Set discourse narrative bot welcome post type to Send all new users a welcome message with a quick start guide.
  2. Let test@example.invalid be an email address that does not belong to any user.
  3. Send a new message to test@example.invalid.

Expected results: The user receives one email, notifying him of the post.

Actual results: The user receives both the notification email for the post and a notification email for the welcome post from Discobot

Who banned is shown wrong

@Silvanus wrote:

Hi! I just banned someone for 7 days in our forum. The user had a short 3 day ban just few days back. After I clicked the ban, the forum told me that the one who had given the ban was the moderator that given the last ban, not me. So, there’s some problem.

Quick sheet of how things progressed:

User A is banned for 3 days by Moderator B
3 days pass…
User A is banned for 7 days by Admin C (me)
Forum claims that ban was given by moderator B, not admin C
Edit: Press F5, forum now claims that ban was given by admin C

Edit: The problem was fixed by F5.

Some questions about viewing a single user's posts in a topic

@Ellibereth wrote:

Is there a mobile view equivalent to the “n posts in topic” button, that doesn’t require switching to desktop view?

Also, is there a way to make the button appear on desktop for users with only 1 post in a topic? This is relevant when you’re using the “frequent posters” part of the starting post and trying to jump to the post made by a certain person.

Thanks

Hello,
I cannot use the mobile application to connect to my site
I get this message when trying to log in:

Like the first time I’m connecting to meta.discourse.org.

But if I click “authorize”, then for meta.discourse.org it’s working, on my forum it’s never working, I get this message:

Does anyone already encountered this issue?
I didn’t notice this when the site was not HTTPS. Maybe there could be a link by some way…

Here is the error log title:
Failed to handle exception in exception app middleware : PG::UniqueViolation: ERROR: duplicate key value violates unique constraint “index_user_api_keys_on_client_id”

not sure I can share safely the details of the log.

My phone is a BQ AQUARIS X PRO
Android : 8.1.0
The same issue appears also on SAMSUNG S8 and IPHONE 5 iOS 10.3.3

Recent change to suppressed topics?

@abrambailey wrote:

We previously suppressed a topic from our home page (set to Latest), but some users selected Categories as their default home page so they would be able to see the suppressed category on Latest … Some of the users a unhappy now, as it seems the v2.0.0.beta4 +138 update has changed the option “suppress category from home page” to “suppress category from latest topics”, which means the workaround is no longer possible (for users who wish to see the suppressed category). One possible fix would be to give users the option of showing certain suppressed categories on the Latest page through their preferences?

Email forward plugin

0
0

@jordan1909 wrote:

Repo: GitHub - HMSAB/discourse-email-extraction

Description:

In our installation we had a real need to extract emails from an email chain to create staged or real users for our customers.

The email extraction plugin pulls as many emails as you allow from an email or email chain and creates staged users or temp users based on your settings. The benefit to this is you can extract emails that were included in a forward chain regardless of how long ago.

Upon extraction of the emails, the users are then invited to the topic to which they were included on in the email.

This plugin does not override any built in email functionality.

Use Case:
A company uses this platform to provide assistance to customers, their sales team frequently forwards customer requests to the team and is forced to act as an intermediary. This plugin automatically can stage the users and add them to the topic to see subsequent discussions on the discussion chain.

Features:

  • Extract any number of users from an email chain and stage/create the users.
  • Extract any number of users that were CC’d on an email.
  • Invite extracted users to topics where they were included
  • Send email notification to the users (notification varies).

Admin Settings:

  • full user creation enabled - toggles whether a full temporary user should be created.
    NOTE: This user is automatically created and enabled, it makes sense in my use case but use at your own discretion.

  • should invite enabled - toggles whether users who were extracted should be added to the topic they were included on.

  • notify users enabled - toggles whether fully created users should receive a notification when automatically generated.

  • notify staged users - toggles whether staged users should get an initial email with the topic they were included on.

  • username prepend - Define a specifc string users should have before their username, ex: autogen###

  • max extracted users - Maximum number of users to be extracted from an email chain.

Example with 3 users in CC (staged):

Example with an email forward with 3 cc’d users in original email:
As you can see with this example, not only are the 3 users who were in cc added but so was the original email recipient.

Feedback is appreciated, this is my first plugin here.

Confusing UX for replies to PMs I didn't technically send

@dictoon wrote:

This is a great example where I find that Discourse’s UI/UX tries to be too smart and ends up being confusing, to say the least:

I’m owner & admin of the forum, and occasionally I receive such messages. It’s clear that Discourse decided that a user account should be put on hold to prevent spam, which is perfectly fine.

What I really don’t understand is the UI:

  • Why does the “Account temporary on hold” message appears first, i.e. preceds (in time) the user’s message?
  • Why is the “Account temporary on hold” message attributed to myself (Franz)?
  • Why can I edit it? Reply to it?
  • Did the user receive it too?
  • What happens if I reply? Does the user get my reply?
