I dislike pink like

I am a fan of the way we no longer hide the like glyph after liking, however I find the new color very intrusive

For me, it interferes with reading and actively discourages me from liking stuff.

In the past we had a throbbing pink like button I also disliked. Perhaps I would feel a bit better about this if it was more red I dunno, I think it should just be consistent with the bookmark icon and fill up in blue.

Bold "Default" In Code Block

Tom Spilman wrote:

I just came across this...

GraphicsDevice.DepthStencilState = DepthStencilState.Default;

Why is the text "Default" above slightly darker/bolder than the rest of the text?

Is it applying some custom code formatting that is language specific? If so shouldn't it only apply in the correct context?

One of the users on my forum brought up this good point.

When the "About me" section is active in the Profile Preferences, some of the box-shadow is hidden by the text-formatting buttons.

Browser: Firefox 30.0

I can't post the image directly but here is an imgur link showing what I am talking about http://imgur.com/S3m4t2l

Transfer WordPress to Discourse

Hey everyone, I was wondering if there is any plugin or add-on to help me move everything on my site, currently running on WordPress (self-hosted) to Discourse - entirely. This means that the site is no longer powered by WP but Discourse. I really like this platform and was hoping I could use it for my main site.

Note: I'm not looking for a WP & Discourse integration. If it's possible to transfer from WP to Discourse will my old urls will redirect to new url (301 redirect) so that it doesn't hurt my SEO and visits. Thanks

Quote badge is not added recursively

I noticed on my badges page that I have not yet received a quote badge, even though I've quoted many posts already, but probably none since the addition of the badge.

I realise this is an edge case because new forums will have badges from day 0, but it'd be good to get some common practices in place for recursive badge grants. Say I make a new badge for a post that got 10 likes and 10 bookmarks. I'd like for all posts that match this criteria to trigger a badge grant once I make the new badge public.

My mobile device is a junk flip phone from 2006, so I can't personally verify these reports, but a couple users on my site have complained about their mobile experience. Here's what they've said (BBS = my Discourse install):

User 2 hasn't told me what kind of phone they are using (I'm trying to find out), but User 1 is using an approved setup according to the FAQ and they've noticed the same problems.

Difference between reply to message and reply to thread?

Giovanni Gherdovich wrote:

Hello,

in a discourse topic you have a "reply" button close to each single
message in the discussion, and a "reply" button at the bottom of the page,
presumably referring to the discussion as a whole.

What is the difference between the two way of partecipating
to a discussion?

Cheers,

Just wondered if it would be possible to update the gem omniauth-openid to gem 'omniauth-openid', :git => 'https://github.com/intridea/omniauth-openid.git' to fetch the gem from Github.

The problem (which actually isn't your bug) is that omniauth-steam, an openid-based omniauth strategy is broken due to the this strategy being left in the source of the default repository.

This can be fixed by loading the gem from the Github (and properly updated) repository instead.

After sign-in, I'm not redirected to the conversation

Nathan Long wrote:

I'm part of a Discourse forum that requires login. I get emails with a summary of recent topics.

Sometimes I click to open several of those in new tabs, but each tab says "you must sign in." After I do, each tab goes to the home screen, not the discussion I was trying to reach. So I have to close them, go back to the email, and find what I was interested in again.

I think that if I'm redirected from a conversation to the login page, once logged in, I should be sent on to the page I originally requested.

I reached trust level 3 and yesterday found out by coincidence that I lost it again.

Discourse won't tell you what you need to get a higher level (not that I know of), but it also won't tell you when you lost it. I found out because I tried to edit a topic's category, but the option was gone.

This is very inconvenient: what if you have a topic going on in the Lounge category? You can't go back.

It turned out my reading percentage wasn't high enough anymore. But what about vacations, etc? You go away for a while only to find out you lost access to certain things and you have no idea why (this time @codinghorror told me what the reason was).

Edit:
And come on, I'm not reading enough? smile

  2. Go to this page

  3. Get the window in a re-sizable mode (not maximized)

  4. Scroll down until there are no more items to load, keep the windows scroll all the way down.

  5. With the mouse drag the bottom of the window to reduce the window height by 100-200px

  6. keep scrolling down. Even when you see this message keep on scrolling down

in like 5 seconds the page will become unresponsive.

if you could not replicate that on this step, repeat step 5 - 6.

Hey!

I am new to discourse and using it for a project , and hence wish to contribute. I am well versed with RoR but what i have worked on functions as a service differently. If someone can actually explain me or send me a detailed tutorial of how the flow of control works in discourse , i am sure i would be able to hack on the code faster. It is also okay if someone can explain on Google Hangout or something.

Thanks in advance.

Is Discourse suitable for use for a question and answer type page?

Holt M wrote:

I'm looking for a platform that I can use to power a Q&A section of a website. I'm already planning on using Discourse for comments throughout the site but I've also read on Quora (http://www.quora.com/Is-there-any-open-source-question-and-answer-web-platform-like-Stack-Overflow) that Discourse can also be used to run a Q&A section. However I haven't been able to find any examples. Is this correct or am I mistaken? Here's the quote:

With the functionality like Voting and advanced tagging, it can be used as question-and-answers platform. Every feature that Stack Overflow introduced is available with Discourse to run a Question & Answers site.
