We can't invite users in our "invite_only" instance with local accounts disabled

Hi,

we're self-hosting version 0.9.9.11 of discourse at our company and use the deprecated Google login for now (looking into OAuth later). A few weeks back inviting still worked when we added the first batch of users to our instance. Yesterday a new guy started and we wanted to invite him but we weren't able to find the invite button (or whatever it was). It mysteriously disappeared.

Can you help us figuring out what happened?

Thanks.

EDIT I'm admin, mod and trust level 4 (eldar).

Improving behavior of "N new or updated topics. Click to show" (less page blinking)

Problem

Currently, when I click the blue message to show new or updated topics, my screen changes 2 times:

  1. The blue message gets hidden and all the topics move up, which is not smooth. This is the first change of my screen. It lasts for 1 to 2 seconds.
  2. When the new topics are loaded, they get inserted at the top of the list, and the whole screen changes again. This is the second change.

So, one click changes the screen twice and with delay between these two changes.
I consider it being not very good user experience.

Proposed Solution

Instead of hiding the blue message, change its text to Loading...:

This will allow to avoid moving the whole list of the topics twice.

Another benefit is that if only one topic is to be shown, there will be no movement of topics at all - because the blue message will be replaced by a new topic, and everything below will stay in the same place vertically.

Highlighting of the newly loaded topics

Just as an additional request,

Does it make sense to highlight (and fade out that highlight) the newly displayed topics, just the same as a message in a topic is highlighted when a direct link is used? I feel this has been discussed already, but can't find anything about it.

Post withdrawn unless flagged?

How does this feature work (or is it a feature)? A user on my forums deleted a bunch of their posts in a topic for no apparent reason, so one of the deletions was flagged. The options I have for the flag are to either "Agree (hide post + send PM)" or "Agree with flag."

What do I want to select here and am I supposed to manually restore the posts?

There should be a RSS feed available for badge grants. smile We were thinking it might be nice to expose this somewhere like our IRC channel or even Twitter.

Back Button doesn't keep position in topic list if load more did not trigger

Looking at the previous report of this bug, it looks like that the bug is now inversed.

Affecting both mobile and desktop view.

Previous similar report
Continuing the discussion from Back button doesn't keep position in topic list:

replication

1.if you open the topic list and scroll just enough not to to trigger the load of the next page.
2.go into a topic,
3.hit the back button. scroll position does not preserve will render at the top of the page.

from my test if you actually trigger the "load more" items the position on back navigation is actually preserved.

This issueis mainly affects the experience on smaller screens(mobile).
if the user will try to check the last few posts, it will require a scroll down every time the user go back to the topic list.

The RSS feed seems (since some days) be generated from the last updated (and not created) posts. I don't think it's what we are looking for.

PS: btw, the lastBuildDate seems not to be updated

Hi =) is there a place for a list of plugins for discourse?

Regarding the Login API, so let say after i install Discourse, i heard that we can connect our homepage and members profiles to login to the discourse forum via an API so they don't have to register two accounts.

Is there some guide for this ? So i can send it to our dev team.

I don't want this "feature" in our forums.

How do we change it so that users at trust level 3 cannot recategorize or rename topics?

I've searched through the settings and searched in archives in Meta and can't find anything - but I'm probably just missing it.

I setup iptables firewall rules according to the linode guide. This is also the same as a previous thread on discourse.

My discourse instance is very secure because it no longer loads in the web browser. Would someone mind sharing their iptables rules for discourse?

Translations, how to add them

Okay, so I'm new to an open source project of this size, let alone ruby/rails, let alone having to deal with translations (yep, I've primarily done in house applications that didn't need to support such things frowning)

So how do I go about adding a translation? Do I simply edit the client.en.yml file? Do I have to add it to each one, but leave it empty if I don't know the translation?

After deleting a PM, page doesn't auto refresh to main list of messages. This can be confusing at times. Possible to add this feature in the future?

I think deleting a topic does the same thing instead of auto refreshing to the topic list.
