and it'd make more sense to ask if I want to abandon my edits.

Hey!
I have noticed my backups are not being uploaded to S3! Im pretty sure my credentials are correct, because I have setup images to be uploaded to S3, and it works perfectly.
Im not sure what info I can give regarding this. When I checked my S3 account, there is NO bucket for backups. Am I supposed to create one, or will it automatically create it for me?
In the logs im am seeing this:
Job exception: Wrapped Errno::EACCES: Permission denied - /root/.netrc
Job exception: Permission denied - /root/.netrc
Not sure if that is related to anything though.

I think it's about time I get a Discourse forum up in production, but I'm not sure which method will be best for me and my server, which is running...
CentOS 6
Virtualmin
Apache
Passenger
Postgres
Latest Ruby, various gems etc
I currently have several sites on the server, some are PHP (forums) and some are Rails apps, and until now they have all lived happily together, and I'd like to add Discourse to tha family without sacrificing any of the features I currently enjoy (like being able to easily set up emails for each domain, etc).
Any idea what's the best way to get a Discourse forum on my server please? (And hopefully at some point, several Discourse forums!)
I don't mind installing software and configuring things if that will mean I get the best performance.

I've read up on plugins and it looks like a great way of extending discourse but what if I need to add a new controller and so on?
Is the best approach to use plugin or better to add directly in your branch?
Thanks

The title says it all. When oversized animated gif files are resized, only the first frame is preserved.
After a bit of research, it looks like the solution is to first coalesce the gif before resizing it. This "fills out" the incomplete frames so they can be resized, retaining the animation, by ImageMagick.
Seemingly paradoxically, this usually results in a larger file size than you started with. The coalescing process can be effectively reversed by optimizing the resized gif.
So, we have a few possible solutions:
- Coalesce, resize, then optimize gifs rather than sending them through the same optimization process as other images.
- Allow browsers to resize gifs client side.
- Some more involved process resembling YouTube lazy embeds, where gifs don't animate until you click / hover them. (See e.g. 9gag.com)
I'm definitely in favor of the first option.

Dear Discoursers,
I'm using Discourse 1.0 and it's working nicely. GG !
I have modded my div "container" to be 1024px on desktop.
Now I want to disable responsive CSS completely.
I tried removing the following:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, minimum-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no">
But the CSS "@media only screen" rules are still firing up.
Is there a convenient trick to disable responsive completely ?
Thanks ♥.

The badge notifications take you to that badge's page. This isn't very useful, especially if there are a lot of badges that have been given out. The badges on that page link to the post, but there's no way to tell which badge the notification is even for.
If a badge is for a specific post, clicking the notification should take you to the post that got you the badge.

Originally noticed here but reproduced on meta.
Click the menu hamburger/three line thingy and then look at the keyboard shortcuts.
Then click the darkened area outside the pop up explaining the short cuts. You would expect it to go away, but instead the menu you clicked to see the keyboard shortcuts goes away.

If you highlight text to get the quote reply button there is a part of the button that will dismiss it but not actually bring up the reply area with the quote. Specifically, click the actual quote mark in the button and the selection goes away as does the button, but it is if you didn't click the button.

Currently the educational message for the "Starred" tab uses the HTML tag <kbd>
in order to show a box that looks a little bit like a button.
In the Star button at the bottom of the topic
In my opinion that's just not right. It should just be used to represent keyboard input. Why not use another CSS style or use quotes ("Star"). Discourse uses the latter in several other messages to references buttons. Why not here?
BTW: I think Chrome on Android doesn't even render the kbd tag as . AFAIK only the Desktop version does that.
One more thing: The English text has no closing </ul>
tag.
