I want to understand why there is "/t" for topics and "/c" for categories in the urls? and why there is "Id" in the urls? Why these urls are not simply cleaner like Quora.com urls?
In today's SEO we should use clean urls and its bad for SEO to have these pattern of url which contains Ids.
Can anybody help me understand why these pattern based urls considered in system design?
If a post is hidden by flagging and then edited, not only is the post unhidden, but the "unlisted" status is removed from the topic. This occurs even when the edited post was not the first post, and no matter whether the edited post was made by the OP or not.
If a post is flagged, and the flag disagreed with, the "unlisted" status is removed from the topic. It makes no difference whether or not the post was first hidden, nor does the post need to be by the OP.
Docker has a feature that allows you to set a CPU and RAM limit on a container. For example:
docker run busybox --cpuset="0,1" -m 4g
That would limit the container to cpu0 and cpu1 and 4 gigs of RAM.
Is there a way to configure this with the Discourse bootstrapping script? We have a big server but want to isolate each docker container using memory and cpu limits.
hi jeff, just a note/question... why are you that harsh and closed the last topic without a hint? Don't you want normal users to pickup on discourse? Not everybody is a Rack/Rails guru and immediately understands the workings... At first I was under the impression it's all about 'civilized discussions'. If I'm wrong, please let me know what went wrong. Cheers andy BTW: The 'Create a new Topic' field doesn't update when typing (under OSX 10.10.1, Safari (latest))
When I try to install Discourse on CentOS 6.5 and run the command ./launcher bootstrap app it gives me this error: [root@zack discourse]# ./launcher bootstrap app which: no docker.io in (/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/root/bin) Device "docker0" does not exist. 2014/11/09 01:16:29 Get http:///var/run/docker.sock/v1.14/info: dial unix /var/run/docker.sock: no such file or directory Cannot connect to the docker daemon - verify it is running and you have access [root@zack discourse]#
I understand that this makes little sense, because invitation link subscribes the user, but in my case I would prefer if there is text bellow invitation:
To unsubscribe from these emails, visit your user preferences.
Once clicked it should logged them in and open user preference page. Is this possible?
If the usercard is activated by keyboard, it is currently necessary to tab through the entire topic before focus comes to the card, allowing access to the profile page.
I'm not sure how to implement this on the controller.js side:
import DiscourseController from 'discourse/controllers/controller';
export default DiscourseController.extend(
{
topics: // Retrieving a filtered topic list here
});
On 1.1.0beta3 all of the paragraphs appear small in both the preview and the post. On 1.2.0beta1, all of the paragraphs appear small in the editing preview but only the first paragraph is small in the post.

Something that I have been running into for a while. At random, while scrolling, discourse will dump me at the top of a topic with no warning. This can be from deep in the topic, sometimes dozens of posts down. Has happened on Meta (signed in) and www.what.thedailywtf.com. (Not signed in.) Happens scrolling up or down. To be more precise:
Symptoms:
When scrolling, sometimes my position in topic is reset to post 1.
There is sometimes a small lag, just enough to load the post if it is not in memory.
Only happens when scrolling, ie vertical position has to be changing. Never happens when I am sitting still.
System: Win 7 pro. Chrome stable (has been happening for some time, multiple Chrome releases) Not tested in IE - I don't spend enough time with it to know.
How I Scroll: I use a lenovo trackpoint, in scroll mode. (Tap center button, get scroll icon. Push trackpoint to scroll) I have not tried this with a normal mouse, (don't have one) but the browser should be getting the same signals as if you hold down the center button and move your mouse
EDIT: Some quick googling suggests that this might be called pan scroll mode. I'm in the mode where:
If I move the mouse down a little, I scroll down slowly until I get to the bottom of the page.
Moving the mouse down a little further increases speed.
We are running a custom directory software called eDirectory. Its PHP twitter bootstrap script and we have over 2 million website listings we need discourse integrated into and custom modules for our homepage showing things such as trending listings and new posts. We are looking for at least 3-6 months of your time and this is a paid position. There are opportunities for profit sharing if you are interested.
