How to allow particular CSS classes for particular HTML tags in post editor?

I'd like to allow text wrapping around images.

For this, I'd make a special CSS class.

Is there a way to allow only selected CSS classes for particular HTML tags in the post body? Currently, it strips any classes if I add them manually.

For example, in editor:

<img src="/uploads/default/original/2X/f/fd7886de9a5629779b3cfd0fad83c5a4b8c81633.png" width="180" height="130" class="wrap-left">

Generated HTML:

<img src="//forum.kozovod.com/uploads/default/original/2X/f/fd7886de9a5629779b3cfd0fad83c5a4b8c81633.png" width="180" height="130">

So, the class wrap-left is removed.

P.S. We desperately need more advanced editor to make our key posts look better and reflect blog articles.

When embedding a post into social networks, emojies makes no sense, especially in non-English text

Please take a look at the following screenshot - I'm trying to embed a topic into VK.com, a well-known Russian-speaking social network:

Both in the title and in the topic body, there are text versions of emoji, e.g. [sparkling_heart].

It does not make any sense and it looks weird. Can we remove these text versions of emoji icons, as whenever I embed topics, it really makes no sense, especially for topics in Russian. Also, it spoils the first few sentences, which makes the text not attractive at all.

    You can see content in this category

  2. Copy its paging url http://try.discourse.org/c/tech/l/latest?category_id=2&page=1

  3. Open this paging url you will find blank page

I am on latest version of discourse and the same issue is also happening with my discourse instance but interestingly it is working fine on meta.discourse.org

Any ideas?

Installation on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS + Apache 2 + Plesk 12

@Maxunit wrote:

Dear Discourse Community,

I came across this fine looking Community Software while looking for a Forum....etc pp.

Anyway smile

I have a Root Server from the Server Provider called Hetzner.

It runs Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and has Plesk 12 installed since some time. I managed to follow the 30 minutes guide for installing Discourse and had to change the port so far from 80 to something else, since Apache 2 dominates this port. 8080 is also in use. So I chose 1337 for the lulz.

I also created a subdomain with plesk and did a git checkout to the subdomain folder, which is located in:

/var/www/vhosts/*domain*/*subdomain*.domain

Now...opening subdomain.domain shows what Plesk offers...opening subdomain.domain:1337 returns nothing.

I am not that highly experienced to figure out everything on my own, sadly confused

If anyone can help me with getting discourse working on my Root, i'd be grateful.

Cheers,

Maxunit

Hi @techAPJ

This might be a bug with SSO.

I just tested the signup link you posted on my Discourse/WP install which uses the Official Discourse SSO plugin, and the Discourse signup popup appears. Shouldn't that link redirect to the WP login page?

Reply by email: sharing signatures

I just ran a test with the reply by email feature and within on hour disaster struck: one user had used the feature and his email included a signature which did not start with '--'. It included his private phone number. It was removed before any damage was done, but this did get me thinking: many users don't care about the '--' convention, and as a result all kinds of info might be shared without them being aware. Did anyone run into a similar situation? What's a 'best practice' here?

Thanks!

Difficulty enabling login plugins

@ethangk wrote:

Hey,

I've been playing around with login plugins for discourse, and the issue which keeps reappearing is the inability to correctly inject them into the login modal. For example, after installing the slack plugin discussed on this page, the login box in unchanged. If I open up the JS console and look at the Discourse.SiteSettings variables, there's no mention of slack. If I then reload the page (so that the modal hasn't been fully generated) and add the Discourse.SiteSettings.enable_slack_login variable, and set it to true, when I open the login modal the button for slack appears. This, of course, isn't persisted between page loads.

The other strange issue is that the text on the login box is the key for the locale data, and not the text itself.

Something that may be worth mentioning is that I'm doing this without Docker, which may be causing an issue?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

About cultural differences of layout of "community software"

@Seungmin_Kim wrote:

Hello, first of all i am not even sure its right place to post this topic, if it's not, please tell me kindly. So, I am a developer, freshman on Discourse, from South Korea which is in Asia, and I was really impressed on both software design but also visual design of Discourse and today I registerd as a member of the translation team and this forum.

For now, I've contributed on translating tasks almost but less than 10% today. After I finished this, I also want to work on enhancing the main layout design, too.

As I wish to join on it, I want to remind you that people in Asian culture has their own definition of "visually comfortable layout of community" somehow. And, that makes a difference of UX design works of a software totally and it leads to make a barrier that prevents asians against using a advanced forum software like Discourse.

the major American forum based on Japanese UX design is 4chan, and Korean actually likes more gmail-like design (All examples in korean languages but: http://gall.dcinside.com/board/lists/?id=hit , http://todayhumor.co.kr )

I really have eager to introduce modern, artistic and graceful community/forum software "discourse" to Koreans. And, I want to know if there is a solution to reduce this "UX design" gap between western and oriental. Does anyone have any idea, please? (Actually, im not talking about making a template separately for each cultures but talking about reflect this "UX gap" problem on master project.)

the discourse instance is running on cloud_server_somewhere at port 3000 and proxied to forum.example.com at the standard http port 80

account activation emails are sent with the link to confirm and activate the new account
the hostname is OK but it still has the port, as in:

whereas we'd like to have:

how can we achieve that ? thanks !

In general, these are really welcome additions as getting this data from Google Analytics would require a lot of customization.

I'm curious what other metrics features are coming, and if there is any discussion about them somewhere I'm not seeing?
