Remove (hide) delete my account

Hello guys

I am pretty new with Discourse and I am kind of lost.
I am trying to disable "Delete my account" as we use SSO and the account has to be deleted somewhere else.
Also We would like to disable the "List all users"

I could just go the html templates and remove those two links but that its kind of "hacky". SO I guess something like a plugin would be better. I have been checking some others plugins to see how can I achieve that but not much insight so far.

Any tips about how to achieve this would be highly appreciated it

So, once I click the "link" icon under a post, it says "copied to clipboard". However, when I try to paste from the clipboard straight away, nothing is pasted. Is this a bug?

Under preferences the "Delete My Account" button is always there, regardless if the site is using SSO.

This button should not be there when the forums is using SSO.

How to use HTML entities in translations in Transifex?

Issue

For correct translation in Russian, I sometimes need to use html entities. Is it allowed and how do I do it the right way?

Example

Key: js.number.short.thousands
Original English text: {{number}}k

Preferred Russian translation: {{number}} тыс.

Alternative Russian translation #1: {{number}} тыс. - space is used instead, but it does not look good and allows for wrapping; half-space looks much more natural. The first impression says "it's written incorrectly".

Alternative Russian translation #2: {{number}}тыс. - no space is used, looks really bad.

  1. js.number.format.separator

Please could you explain clearly how these two are used.

Image resizing slider shown on mouse over the image

@meglio wrote:

I often find myself in the need of resizing the width and height of an image proportionally in the <img> tag once it is inserted.

What I do is I use calculator and multiply width and height by some factor and insert the updates values into the width and height attributes of the <img> tag. This is really annoying, especially if I have to do it more than one time to find the best looking size of the image and/or for more than one image in a single post.

What would be great is an image slider right on top of the image in the preview panel, showing 100% initially. You could then slide it left/right and the width/height attributes would change accordingly and you would see the image size increasing/decreasing right under your slider. This slider would appear when you mouse-over the image.

Btw, the original size of the above image is 552 x 76, but to make it look better, I had to multiply it by 0.6 (i.e. reduce its size to 60% of the original size), so I had to change the width to 331 and the height to 46.

All images disappeared in my customized welcome message

@meglio wrote:

When I setup my discourse website long time ago, I customized the welcome message. It used the images available in the some old discourse version. Now all images has disappeared! So what do I do? Besides making images available, which I don't know how to do it, I'll now have to go through the existing PM sent to the newly registered users and fix all the images manually, in every single message. The only complete solution would be to bring all the messages back and make them available. Please could you do so?

Uploaded figures dont show

Dear meta.discourse community,
I am trying to set up an instance of discourse on the local machine. I have used a Docker installation, together with apache2 on Ubuntu3.13. Everything seems to be running except of uploading pictures, both in the posts and e.g. profile pictures. I have checked the upload limits in apache2. I did check the trust levels and allowed extensions on the file. Im not using S3 for uploads.

Discourse informs me the upload was successful but after refreshing the figure doesn't show. It is interesting though, I was able to upload the logos and background picture for my profile,
please help!

I've used all of my ideas.

Stupid //discourse.examples.com set up issue

This is a stupid question, but I am having problems finding the answer. I've dug through all the settings screens and nothing is apparent to me.

I am setting up a new instance of discourse, and discourse keeps thinking the url of the site is discourse.example.com. Where do I change this?

For instance, if I upload a picture, the URL of the picture is something like:
//discourse.example.com/uploads/default/original/1X/da66366a3fddb542728e3e05ff33ba80b0136ad9.jpg

Obviously there is somewhere to set this. I am just not finding it.

Again, sorry for the stupid question.

So this probably only goes to show how sad my life is but I came across a typo and a possible easter egg in the default TOS document:

the Website will be error free or that cess thereto will be continuous or uninterrupted.

Typo: “cess” should be “access”. It then goes on:

If you’re actually reading this, here’s [a treat](http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/shouts/2012/12/the-hundred-best-lists-of-all-time.html).

Not sure if that’s meant to be in there but if so, yes, I was reading it and thanks for the link. sob

Block-style spoiler tags

@lukegb wrote:

Need support for [spoiler] tags which are actually misnamed and are [hide] tags? Look no further!

https://github.com/lukegb/discourse-bbcode-spoiler

Screenshots

(FLARD is an injoke on my forum)

Syntax

[spoiler]contents go here[/spoiler] if you want the default title.

[spoiler=Button title]contents go here[/spoiler] if you don't.

Features

  • Fully supports nested [spoiler] tags and markdown (so HRs, headers, etc, work fine)
  • No JS! This isn't really a feature, given that the rest of the forums run on Ember, but I thought it'd be fun.
  • Removes the spoiler contents from emails which are sent. (This needs rethinking, but for my usecase it's OK since we don't have reply-via-email turned on yet)
  • Always shows in expanded mode in post previews to allow for easier editing
  • Configurable default spoiler text (i.e. what happens if no button override text is specified)

Known issues

  • Currently recursively invokes the full Markdown->JsonML transpiler instead of letting Discourse pass me the inner JsonML. It (Discourse) seems to have weird issues with block-level Markdown tags at the moment, but that could just be me messing up.
  • Horrific UUID generation stuff in order to easily refer to the checkbox.
  • Currently overrides [spoiler] and not [hide] and this is not configurable (at the moment). PRs welcome, but I'm planning to come back to this in a bit.
  • Probably(?) doesn't scroll properly in preview mode.
