Hi,

What do you think about returning something else than a 404 for the deleted subjects ?
I've regularly some errors in Google Webmaster Tools when I delete some subjects. Could you send an other error code to indicate the page has been removed?

p does open the Profile menu, but if you have interacted with the page in any way - even simple j/k navigation - focus will not move to the open menu without refreshing the page.

q opens the reply box, but doesn't quote the post.

New hamburger menu doesn't scroll properly on Mobile

Continuing the discussion from Feedback on new hamburger menu:

I just tested the new hamburger menu on my old Nexus S, Chrome. I can scroll down to view the bottom of the menu, but shortly thereafter it'll snap me back up to this cut-off point:

Anyone else experiencing this? It could be that my phone is just too old at this point.

It's also a bit distracting that I can see a thin sliver of content between the header and the menu. Better if it would cover the background completely. Even better would be if background scrolling could be locked when opening this menu, but I don't know if that's even possible.

Reduce margins in new notifications menu

I'll just reiterate this in a topic of its own so it's not neglected.

It used to be compact like this:

Now it's like this:

Please reduce margins back to the way it used to be, and consider increasing the width of the menu on desktop.

Also, perhaps the number of notifications shown could be responsive, based on the max amount you can show without causing scrolling? That should be the cut-off point to show "View older notifications".

Why does Discourse prefer footnote-style Markdown links?

I'm curious, why are you opting for the footnote style of linking? Is it just a remnant of the StackOverflow days?

I find the [title](link) syntax to be much less error prone. It makes it considerably easier to change or remove links, and it's most likely the syntax you'll adhere to if you're formatting the entire link by hand.

When someone else likes the post while you have the like bar visible, it instantly collapses.

Pull request for Wikis?

Wonder if we could have an option on Wiki's where changes can (or have to be) verified by the Wiki owner (or mod, or TL3 or 4 member) before they are made live?

I want to start editing @sam's multisite how-to but would prefer he (or someone else) makes sure the changes are ok first. I think the same could be true on all forums - the ability to verify edits to wikis before they are made live, perhaps as a 'mark as requiring review', or something.

Adding SSO users to groups automatically?

I run a website that will sometimes sell paid ranks to its users, but I would also like those paid ranks to be synchronized with Discourse. Can this be done using a specific SSO field? Or by using a custom (non-editable) user-field to set the group? If there isn't a way, is there a "hack" to do it?

I'd like to create a plugin so that users can come to a site and trial it by looking around for say 10 pages without signup, but on the 11th page be directed to do so.

Dark theme for admin?

Replace "last post" with "last seen" in profile card?

I think "Last Seen" is a more useful data point than "Last Post", at least as far as the profile card pop-up is concerned. I propose to swap out "Last Post" for "Last Seen" in the profile card.

Take the user @Cafeine for instance (sorry about the unmerited mention mate stuck_out_tongue )

If you find an old discussion with a post of his that you might want to address with a reply or private message, you might think twice when you see his profile:

By the looks of it, he hasn't been around for a while, so your chances of a response from him seem slim. However, if you look at his profile:

"Seen 3 days ago". So he actually checks in every once in a while. Might not be such a futile attempt to get in touch with him after all.

Different EMail Notification Times for Admins/Mods, vs. Regular Users

@BCHK wrote:

It would be really nice to be able to have faster notifications for all posts, for Admins/Moderators - and longer notification periods for regular users.

This would give the Admins/Moderators time to respond to problematic posts before its broadcast to the rest of the community.
