What are the recommended dimensions for badge images so that one doesn't encounter the problem described here?

I understand the current recommendation is to edit the CSS. Let's pretend I don't have that option and can only control what to upload. :smile:

Trouble integrating with Memberful

@Erin wrote:

I've got a new instance of Discourse on a DO droplet. Had a bit of trouble getting email notifications to send, but they seem to be working properly now.

Before I invite my newsletter subscribers to participate in the forum, I want to integrate with Memberful. However, when I attempt the very straightforward integration through Memberful's site, I get "Invalid permissions for specified API user."

But I'm using name and email and an "all users" API key.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

Privacy implications of MyBB imported name = email minus domain

@dandv wrote:

The email address of a Discourse user is sensitive enough that it's not shown by default, and the act of an Admin seeing it is logged.

When importing users (at least using the MyBB importer), the user's name is derived from their email address. Since a lot of users use a small set of popular email providers (Gmail, Yahoo! etc.), this has the effect of leaking the user's email, not just to the admin or other forum users, but to anyone on the Internet:

Hey guys,
im looking to set up a Discourse platform that may need some changes.
Im not sure how to adress it as i have little knowledge in ruby/js.
Is there a list of programers from my country that are familier with Discourse? I guess there are many gurus here, yet as my language is different(+rtl) it may be a good idea to take one that speak hebrew.

How can i find one and what should i look for?

Thanks!

Discourse sending huuuuge number of emails

Hi,

we are currently facing the problem of discourse sending huge number of emails day by day (our SMTP account have been deactivated by our provider meanwhile). Since the sent emails are counted in the forums' "Email sent" statistic i assume the forum sends all these emails itself (somehow).

Depending on the number of users i would expect something around 10.000 to be normal. Any idea which trail to follow in order to find the culprit? Is there any statistic showing the amount of emails by user?

Any help appreciated, Thomas E.-E.

Slowness in loading Avatars on `meta.discourse.org`

@DeanMarkTaylor wrote:

You probably already know about this but I thought I would mention that during a quick test with http://www.webpagetest.org/...

I can see there is a lot of time and requests being spent redirecting (302) from one CDN to another for the avatars.
from: https://cdn.discourse.org/meta/user_avatar/...
to: https://meta-s3-cdn.global.ssl.fastly.net/optimized/...

Based on looking at the test results here:
http://www.webpagetest.org/result/151019_S0_26cd86a4691772b6221b4dc433576e7a/

It looks like this adds ~7 seconds to the load time for meta.discourse.org currently (30739ms / 4 connections).

A video:
http://www.webpagetest.org/video/view.php?id=151019_S0_26cd86a4691772b6221b4dc433576e7a.1.0

http://www.webpagetest.org/result/151019_H1_085fc810046b2e8cdd14a7af1d6b020d/

A side note - it would be nice if the initial render could take place without any avatars...
... and then later load them, getting that initial render quicker would be nice.

Obviously this might look very different when there are no 302 redirects

I have a problem. Users are receiving "Akismet has temporarily hidden your post" private messages from me (as the site admin), but I have no way of seeing or approving the posts they made.

Akismet is installed, but http://community.openfl.org/admin/plugins/akismet says "The page you requested doesn't exist or is private."

What do I do? Thanks!

I don't know how long this has been the case, as I don't use them. I just discovered this when testing another issue.

Shift+z logout does not work with sticky keys

@TechnoBear wrote:

Not the most urgent issue, but since I've found it, I thought I might as well report it.

Shortcuts Shift+r and Shift+s work perfectly well with sticky keys enabled. Shift+z does not; both keys need to be depressed simultaneously. That's not particularly awkward to do one-handed, but AFAIK, doing so on Windows cancels sticky keys, which could be a real pain in the bahookie. :bear:

(For those unfamiliar, sticky keys enable certain keys - such as Shift, Ctrl, Super etc. - to be pressed in sequence with other keys, rather than simultaneously. In Ubuntu, they can be enabled via Universal Access > Typing Assist. In Windows, there's an option in the control panel somewhere...)
