I opened js file itself, it doesn't look like russian text, seems to be error of double encoding and as a result syntax error in file. Error ocurred after upgrade to the latest version discourse (05c8bca).
I have two concerns.
What is quickfix for the problem. Just give me some direction, I most likely can solve it.
Can we prevent those type of errors in the future. For example, after upgrade, after js-assets compilation, but before swapping to new version - we can check if syntax of js files is correct or not. If not - cancel upgrade and inform about error.
Ideally, my users would want different email preferences for Watched vs Tracked categories. For instance, some of us are using Discourse as a mailing list, some are not. Some users only care about a few categories, some all categories. So being able to "Watch" a category and receive emails for each new topic or reply is important for some users, but other users won't want any emails at all (but they still want the notification settings on the website to stay the same).
Having different email settings for both "watched" and "tracked" categories would help, I think.
e.g. there are topics that need to be better, so you define a tag: "need editor", then you'd rather not showing these topics in the main pool until they get the refinement.
is it possible to hide them somehow from homepage?
i can do this via changing its category and hiding that category from homepage. but adding a tag and then removing it fits more in this case.
The keyboard shortcut g,b doesn't open the Profile "bookmarks" page; instead, it opens the old "starred topics" page (or its current equivalent). The links from that page go to the topic, not to the bookmarked post, which renders them fairly useless if you have bookmarked an early post in a lengthy discussion.
The links from the Profile "bookmarks" page point to the correct post, but that page isn't keyboard-navigable.
For a topic I previously flagged... ... so there is an assumption this error is occurring because of that. But this problem happens here on meta repeatedly for me an the specified topic.
Steps to Reproduce
Flag a topic previously you previously flagged
Both times I used "Something Else".
I think this is the only step - but for me I was following up on this topic in meta:
Expected Result
Either: allow me to flag the topic and succeed. Or: Display a message indicating why I'm unable flag the topic - if "not permitted" - indicating why I'm not permitted.
Actual Result
Results the message "You are not permitted to view the requested resource":
And a 403 forbidden error in console.
Additional Notes
Current experience seems poor - it doesn't explain why I'm unable to do this.
Clicking on the "You flagged this for moderation" from the top, doesn't display the user a message - just an 403 error in the console.
This should perhaps link to the "flagging topic" first time it was flagged?
Imagine a "Q&A mode" which would do the following:
The "X Reply" button is toggled on by default, showing all replies inline
All replies should be hidden from the stream. As in, only the inline version of the reply should be visible.
Inline replies need the toolbar with Likes etc. now, since they won't be showing up elsewhere.
Even when the reply is directly underneath the preceding question, only the indented version of the reply should be shown, for consistency.
Consequently, replies to the topic (i.e. Questions) would be shown chronologically, whereas replies to posts (i.e. Answers or further discussion) will be shown directly underneath their parent posts.
The discourse I manage are by invite only. When a non-member posts, we get them as a Pending member.
In almost all cases, they got an email from the forum via Email Address A which is member address, but replied from Email Address B. If we can get some kind of Merge in place, this might be able to stop, but I wonder:
[Where] Can I see the email that was rejected? It'd be so handy to just assume their normal user & post it, then reach out off line & update their email address.
But as it stands, I don't know if it's possible to see that rejected email?
Hello, Just today in the afternoon, I have encountered a 500 Internal Server Error whenever I try to go into a category So then I thought, why not I try to reinstall my whole discourse forum again and see if it will work again (Thankfully the website is not public yet so I don't have to worry about losing posts) But, while I was trying to search for a post that mentions anything about this, I couldn't find it. So I was wondering if anyone know a way to properly reinstall discourse forum so that I will be able to start again from scratch?
Also, here is the console error that I found when doing inspect element on the site
EDIT: My server machine is a centos 7 Latest version Any help would be appreciated Thank you - DC
I think it would be very useful to have the option when pinning a subcategory topic to make it pinned for both the subcategory and parent category, instead of just the subcategory.
I see discussions of similar (but for not pinning subcategory topics in the parent category) here:
