Frontend dev for integration of a new UI design

Context

We are a startup of 140+ employees, building a decentralized network of food distribution communities, each community is managed by a Host. We have around 1000 in Europe. We want the Hosts, the Farmers, and the Members to collaborate online.
After a year of internal testing, La Ruche qui dit Oui ! (The Food Assembly in UK) is ready to bring our network on our Discourse.

What would you like done?

We need a frontend developer to integrate a new "skin" for our enterprise discourse instance.
The design is being reworked by Marz, who already designed our online magazine (ex blog :yum:)

When do you need it done?

Designs are planned to be delivered in July.
SSO is planned to be delivered in August.
A delivery for September would be swell.
But depending on the design complexity, and/or if middle/backend dev is needed, the project could be sliced into several deliveries.

What is your budget, in $ USD that you can offer for this task?

Again, depending on the design complexity (and project breakdown) we're planning a first investment between $2000 & $8000.

Installing Discourse Under Nginx

@JupiterFlux wrote:

From what I've read Discourse is meant to be installed using a Docker Image, which (from what I've read) means it will basically be the entire contents of the VM that it runs on, which... well, is less than ideal for me. Basically, I have a server running Nginx and hosting multiple sites, simply put... Can I add Discourse as another site in any way, or MUST it be installed using the Docker image and be the only thing on the server?

PS Prior to reading about Docker today, I didn't know what it was, so pardon me if I'm misunderstanding something.

Is it possible to upgrade Discourse up to a number of commits in the version?

@stevenpslade wrote:

I currently work with a development, staging, and production version of Discourse. My development version is always on tests-passed so that features I am working on will definitely work on the most recent version.

I then add, let's say a plugin, to my staging Discourse and concurrently upgrade my staging Discourse to the latest version (ex: 1.6.0.beta7). If all goes well, I do the same for production. So essentially dev is on tests-passed and the other two are forced on the last upgrade.

I have recently encountered a problem where my dev Discourse is on version 1.6.0.beta7 +179. Somewhere in those 179 commits, a change was made that helps one of my plugins to work. So on my staging, version 1.6.0.beta7 (not including the +179 commits) the plugin is broken.

So in short, can I set the version of a Discourse to 1.6.0.beta7 +179 somehow?

Edit: If specify the build would that do the trick? Something like: 1.6.0.beta7, build: bfc8b3362b

What would you like done?

We need a fullstack dev to implement a bidimensional navigation feature.
:scream:

Don't be afraid, I'll explain :
- we want a plugin
- GPL2 is fine
- enabling the creation of custom tables
- either in content or a new kind of pages
- the table creator configures one tag per column, on tag per line
- the table is published
- the table cells contain a list of all the topics which have both tags (column & line)
:cold_sweat:

Alright, an example:
- I create a table, declaring the tags "TODO" "DO" "DONE" as 3 columns.
- declaring the tags "DESIGN", "CODE", "DEPLOY" as 3 lines.
- I publish my table
- I get something looking like
- the table would be sexy, with hover on links, icons, etc.

             |   TODO      |   DO        |   DONE      |
-------------|-------------|-------------|-------------|
   DESIGN    |             | 365 896     | 234         |
   CODE      | 845         | 745 312     |             |
   DEPLOY    | 256         |             |             |

Where
- 365 & 896 are links to the 2 topics with tags DESIGN + DO
- 234 is a link to the 1 topic with tags DESIGN + DONE
- 845, CODE + TODO
- ...

FYI, this would be a discourse implementation of the practishare methodology.

When do you need it done?

A delivery for September would be swell.

We're planning a first investment between $2000 & $8000.

Ember Object Discrepancy between Initial Page-Load and Hard-Refresh

@ivanrlio wrote:

On our site we're generating a sidebar that will contain information about the topic such as posters, suggested discussions etc. An issue that I've noticed, at least for the attribute posters, is that upon initial page-load, it is present on the ember object. Upon hard-refreshing however, this attribute disappears and thus renders the sidebar rather pointless. Below are the screenshots of these instances.

Page-load Ember Object:

Hard-refresh Ember Object:

Would anyone be able to explain why this is occurring? Thanks

Spam protection from three day old account?

@peternlewis wrote:

So my site was just hit with a porn spammer account that posted ten new topics, all with content like:

<a href="http://robtopol.in/n/1-Scarlett+Johansson+nude.html"><img src="http://robtopol.in/n/index.gif" /></a>

The account was created three days ago, and then presumably left dormant to avoid the "max topics in first day".

Might I suggest that flag actually be "max topics in first day that user posts any topic"? Same for the max replies in first day flag.

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for settings that might have further limited this intrusion without negatively impacting real users (many of whom tend to be new users and light visitors, and thus not particularly trusted). 3 new topics in the first day you post any topic seems quite sufficient.

Thanks.

Is there a way we can add a signup button for mobile devices too?

I just added a site setting that allows you to prioritize full names as opposed to usernames in the UI.

I feel an @ symbol may be worth adding per:

This can be done safely via CSS, leaving it off for now.

Quotes inside the UX still pull in username eg:

We may look at making this switch to be fullname based when the setting is set.

You can now customize Invite email message when inviting user to forum, topic or message.

Make sure that {invite_link} is present in your message as that block will be replaced by actual invite link. If {invite_link} is not present in your message then your message will be ignored and default invite template will be used.
