A (wannabe) user contacted the admins on my forum. They had received this message (fi-locale) after asking for new confirmation email to be sent (as it was previously not sent). I take it something is broken.

The user is currently unconfirmed, but it has the email set up right.

How do I make the about page show exact post counts?

@James-Robert_Knight wrote:

I am debating whether to install Discourse, but having the exact post count listed is a prerequisute for the metacommunity in which my new community is part of. (It's a geofiction community that uses post counts to measure national activity.)

I have only seen about pages with inaccurate numbers suck as 12k and 1.2k or such. Is there any way to get those to show exact numbers?

EDIT: I just realised that I can see the actual counts by mousing over the number. Is there any way to make it display the exact number directly, or even make it more obvious that you can mouse over the number? The guy that does the post counts will probably figure it out if we tell him, but things get lost in the shuffle over on the metaforum. heh

Can I customize the email 'container' html too?

@bartv wrote:

Hi,

I'd like to update the layout of the emails to match the other emails that we send. What I'd need is a way to add a 'wrapper' around the email content, adding a logo, text-box and some elements like that. I couldn't find this option in the Customize section of the admin - how would I do this?

Thanks!

Unwanted `div` tag should be removed inside `ol`

@vinothkannans wrote:

We didn't needed the line I mentioned above. It is just creating output like

<ol class="category-breadcrumb">
 <li class="no-category has-drop bullet"></li>
 <li class="tag-drop no-category bullet tag_all"></li>
 <div class="clear"></div>
</ol>

Totally no need for div here inside a ol tag, At least it should be

 <li class="clearfix"></li>

Can anyone confirm it? So I can make PR.

Tag Group on multiple subcategories only applies to the last subcategory it's added to

@GSeven wrote:

In relation to this..

specifically "If I have other categories where these tags should also be permitted, they can be added in those categories' settings in the same way."

I'm not finding this to be the case.

  • Add a tag group to a (SUB)category, make a tagged post, all is well when you filter through.

  • Add the same tag group to a different (SUB)category, make a tagged post, all is well when you filter through.

  • Go back to the first (SUB)category, make a tagged post, everything appears to be well, until you filter through and notice that the post is not listed.

  • Same happens if i add the Tag Group to a third (SUB)category and post, all is well, the other two (SUB)categories allow you to make posts but the post is not listed on filtering > 'There are no latest topics. Browse all categories or view latest topics'

I have to ./launcher rebuild app after that to reset everything.

Been at this for the last couple of days, pretty sure it's a bug and not just me. (famous last words)

EDIT: i am adding the tag group to sub categories of different categories.

Idea for user-card: Topic and Post Created

0

@SidV wrote:

I've been thinking in new idea for user-card.
Is it possible to add number of "topics created" and "posts created" into the card?

Maybe here:

I knew it, when a user check de "summary" in the profile:
/users/user/summary
He can see the numbers, but I think it's important to have those numbers in the "card".
Don't you think?

I read what Sam said here:

And the other answers they gave him, like Jeff. I agree with Sam that have these statistics on the card can provide a quick "indicator" about the user, if it is active, or if you have not created any topic, or how active in the community; all without having to go to detail the "summary" profile section.

What Jeff proposed is more complex. The use of metrics on the card could even complicate the issue of resource consumption to calculate that, I'm not a developer, it is what I think about this.

I hope you can understand the idea.
Regards from Argentina.

Docker-manager plugin not linking to github properly

0

@David_Taylor wrote:

I have a standard docker-based installation, and use the docker-manager plugin to keep things up to date. This works fine for most plugins, but for some reason some of the plugins don't work properly. The link to the commit is wrong, but actually updating works fine.

So, for the discourse-solved plugin, the generated HTML looks like

<td>
  discourse-solved
  (<a href="https://github.com/discourse/discourse-solved/compare/9936707...master">9936707</a>)
</td>

and that works fine.

However, for the discourse-push-notifications plugin, it looks like this

<td>
  discourse-push-notifications
  (<a href="/compare/003519a...master">003519a</a>)
</td>

The problem isn't isolated to that plugin, it also happens for discourse-migrate-password, and a plugin of my own.

All the plugins were initially installed by including a git clone line in the app.yml container definition. As far as I can tell they are all in the same state as each other so no idea what's causing the difference.

If I enter the docker container, and go to the directory of the plugins, running git config --get remote.origin.url returns

https://github.com/discourse/discourse-push-notifications

There are no errors in the javascript or server logs. Is there anywhere else I can look to try and figure out what's going on?

Turning off emails for specific category

Is this possible at all?

Change topic timestamp results in 403 (Forbidden)

@kgish wrote:

I would like to allow regular users to trigger certain events (create annotation, likes, votes) on a given topic whereby the topic timestamp is updated.

I noticed that the POST /t/:topic_id/change-timestamp request returns a 403 (Forbidden) whereas if I am logged in as admin it works just fine.

What should I do in order to allow the timestamp of a topic to be updated by non-admin folks?

How to use didRender event on a component?

@Aman_Jagga wrote:

I want to start some css transition when my page is fully loaded(including all background images), so I am trying
didRender event of a component but its never called.This is how my codes look like

export default Ember.Component.extend({
    didRender() {
    	console.log('did render working');
		var home =$('#main-outlet')[0];
	    home.className += " homePage";
		startTimer(5);
	},
	willDestroyElement() {
		console.log("destroying view");
		var home = $('#main-outlet')[0];
	    home.className = " wrap";
	}
});

When I use didInsertElement, my code works fine but executed before getting loading the images itself?
Any idea or an alternative approach on this?

Rounding of poll percentages is broken

@rizka wrote:

Jatkoa ketjulle Rounding of percentages on polls is inaccurate:

I decided to create a new topic since the newest issue isn't about questionable rounding rules, but completely false rules instead. Hence the topic must be in the #bug category. Not a major issue, but somewhat awkward anyway.

We had a public poll where 106 votes had been cast. There were 69 votes for "no" and 37 for "yes". A simple division gives that 69/106 is about 65.09 %. Yet the system tells that 66 % had voted for "no" and 34 % for "yes". Here's a picture:

The final result was 72 votes for "no" and 38 for "yes" and the poll is now closed. 72/110 is about 65,45 % which the system rounds to 66 % as well, so you can see the bug in action at Tappara.co.

I tried to look at the code to find what causes the bug, but failed. I discovered that a function named evenRound is called, but when I seeked for its source, I didn't find it. This is just a guess, but maybe that function rounds the number to the nearest even integer?

Commit from 4 days ago

@arrancscott wrote:

There was a commit made 4 days ago that's seemed to introduce some unexpected functionality.

This added line makes the following if statement in user.hbs always evaluate to true:
{{if model.profileBackground 'has-background' 'no-background'}}

Here model.profileBackground is always truthy and thus always results in the has-background class being applied to the element.

I've just tested this on the live meta.discourse.org and it still seems to be happening. Is there something I'm missing here or is it a genuine bug?

Quick Question about API + Search

0

@Justin_Veenema wrote:

Hey @team!

Quick question about getting the Discourse API to work with our Universal Search. We just tried to get this working today, but the API isn't actually letting us see the content. When we make the AJAX request, we get this:

We tried it on our local server and on a staging server, and still couldn’t get a response. The weird thing is that the Response Headers are returning an empty access-control-allow-origin

Can you guys point us in the right direction? We had this with our old Community and it drove a ton of useful traffic - so this would be pretty big for us. :slight_smile:
