Dear @fefrei and friends,

I've a problem need to be fixed as soon as possible. (it's expiring today :weary:)

I've my set up running as its explained in the main post. I did configured the system when my droplet OS Ubuntu 14.04, later on I did upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04 and everything is working fine.

But now I'm not able to renew my certificate :frowning:

When I enter :
letsencrypt renew

I'm getting the following error:

All renewal attempts failed. The following certs could not be renewed:

I'd tried before to run:

letencrypt-auto renew
letencrypt-auto certonly

The error were:

"502 bad gateway" Nginx Error

@divine wrote:

I installed discourse by following instructions on: http://blog.discourse.org/2014/04/install-discourse-in-under-30-minutes/

It ran absolutely fine for a few months and during this time I also updated the installation a couple of times.

A couple of weeks ago I tried to update it again, but there was some error in the middle of the update but still the site was working fine (to my knowledge).

However, then suddenly the site started giving "502 bad gateway" error. It is running on 1GB VPS on linode.

I have no experience with nginx and rails. Can you please let me know how can I fix this?

The site is: http://www.attractdreamlife.com/

Thanks in advance. (I am willing to share root details of the server in private with an expert who can help me out.)

InviteEmail broken

@Margrave wrote:

Hello,

I've been a happy Discourse admin until 2 days ago, it stopped sending invites by email.
My gateway is mailgun, the configuration has not been touched and when I use the 'Send test email' feature within the forum I receive an email normally.
What fails is the job called InviteEmail, what can I do to properly troubleshoot this issue and make it work again?
The only thing I did recently (and I believe that's the cause) is upgrade from 1.7.0 to 1.8.0 (both beta).

Thanks in advance for your help!

Does the auto-close option only take a positive integer for the number of hours? This makes sense, but there's a (jobs) category in which I hope people will only be able to post topics in, with no replies. I tried inputting 0 to no avail.

Discourse Square Logo Rendering Issue in Tweets

@MikeSmart wrote:

We've just launched a Discourse forum. As part of that we created custom logos. When we tweet a link from the forum on Twitter, the 144x144 square logo isn't rendering properly. It's picking up some black coloring artifacts. The file looks fine from within the Discourse environment.

I've uploaded a screenshot to show what I mean. There shouldn't be any black on this logo. It should just be blue/orange with a white background:

What I've tried
The initial logo was a transparent png file. I switched to jpg file with a white background, but the same issue occurs.

Any thoughts as to how I can get started fixing this?

Thank you in advance!

Mobile: Clicking Create New Account causes processing spinner icon to keep spinning

@AndrewM wrote:

I've tried multiple times to create new accounts on mobile using iphone 6 with Safari and I keep getting the same issue.

After I click "Create New Account" the spinner processing icon just keeps spinning and I can't go anywhere on the app. After a while, I try clicking on the x to close the account creation form and when I try to go to the homepage, the page doesn't load and I get a new spinner processing icon, so this bug seems to cause many issues. The actual account is created in the background (because the activation email is sent and everything will work from there); however, we're launching a new forum using Discourse and this bug will prevent new users from creating accounts on mobile to access our forum as they won't know that the account is actually created.

Has anyone else experienced this bug? I've tried it on multiple Iphone 6s and the iphone 6S and keep getting the same issue...

SSO login and Jobs::EnsureDbConsistency both fail

I have two sites having SSO enabled. After the latest update, both of them started failing SSO logons for moderators and admins (but not for normal users), with a localized error message that is similar to "name is already being used":

More intriguingly, the logs also contain failures for Jobs::EnsureDbConsistency. They look like this:

Discourse-saml + Okta endless redirect

Hi there - I'm trying to get the discourse-saml plugin working with Okta; I've scoured the existing threads, and can't seem to figure out what's going on.

When I go to the login page, it prompts me to log in with my Okta credentials. Upon logging in, the page gets stuck in a loop between forums.trusa.io (the Discourse URL) and teamrubiconusa.okta.com (the Okta login).

Here's how Okta is configured:

Here's the Login settings in Discourse:

Here's the app.yml settings:

The logs don't show anything informative:

Halp! :confused:

@skoota - I saw you had some issues with the plugin, perhaps you might be able to lend a hand?

Thanks!

Android app inconsistency

$

@ron_jeremy wrote:

This applies to my Discourse Android app experience -- Nexus 6P on 7.1.1. I cannot say if the iOS version exhibits the same behavior.

Maybe this is a bug or maybe I'm being a nitpicking twit. Anyway...

Let's say you're reading a topic but now you have to do something else. So, you either hit the Android 'Home' button (circle) or the Android 'Recents' button (square) so you can move on to whatever other app you need to access.

Now, how will I get back to the Discourse topic I was reading?

If I hit the Recents button, I can scroll to the Discourse window and I'm back to exactly where I left the topic I was reading.

If I hit the Discourse app icon (by habit or convenience), I'm taken to the Discourse app 'home screen' (list of available forums), not to the topic I was reading. Now I have to try to recall what topic I was reading and also where I was in the topic.

I also noticed that once Discourse is opened via the app icon, any topic windows previously stored in the Recents list will be removed.

Smarter emoji completion (thumbsup before thumbsdown)

@bradydowling wrote:

When I type in :thumbs it suggests that I use :thumbsdown: which is a much less commonly used emoji than :thumbsup:. I'm guessing Discourse suggests emojis alphabetically but in this case that isn't so nice.

Slack and other applications suggest thumbs up first. I'm not sure if they evaluate which is most common or if there's another way but it would be a slightly better UX to have :thumbsup: to be a priority over :thumbsdown:

How are staff users identified

Hey world. Trying to figure out how staff users are identified in discourse. I want to be able to flag new staff members, but it seems like it's automatic. Maybe based on email address.

We're trying to pull metrics on community growth, but I'm constantly having to export and weed out the staff members who have used alternate emails and aren't flagged as staff. If there's a way to manually flag them I'm thinking that should solve the problem.
