Suggestion: Allow option to vet Topics posted in certain categories

We have several sections where it would be handy to first review the contents of Topics posted into them. Some examples:

  • A Jobs section - we’d want to verify the poster isn’t an agency, and that the template has been followed.
  • Learning Resources - we’d want to check the Topic is posted with our usual template for such resources.

On other forum platforms, this option is usually named ‘is moderated’ and is shown in the usergroup permissions page (Discourse’s equivalent is the ‘security’ tab when editing a category).

Avatars missing after import

I’ve got a vbulletin import for a hosted customer. The avatars have disappeared and are now showing as a generic blank person shape like this.

I’m pretty sure that they were there at some point. The URLs look like the should have something. Is there some way that I can find them?

Embed whitelist blocking all embed urls

Edit: I have solved the issue - see the following comment for details

I am attempting to enable embedded comments for blog posts for my site. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to make it work.

In the embedded comments iframe, the text “Loading Discussion…” is continually shown. When I visit the source of the iframe, I am met with:

Referer:

The referer did not match any of the following hosts:

* mysite.test/.*
* mysite.com/.*

[Configure Embedding](http://discourse.mysite.com/admin/customize/embedding)

The embed url I am trying to use is: http://mysite.test/news/my-first-prototype however, multiple variations also fail (including https://mysite.com/news/my-first-prototype)

Any ideas? I followed the following topic exactly in setting up embedding:

Can no longer embed Sketchfab content in a blockquote?

@RobMeade wrote:

Hi all,

Some time ago I wrote a few How Tos for some of our users. One of them in particular explained how to embed a Sketchfab 3D model within a post.

I gave them an example topic with the text blockquoted so that it looked more like a “topic”, this just showed the URL, I escaped it with a backslash, then beneath I did the same but had the Sketchfab link un-escaped so that the model appeared within the blockquote area.

I stumbled across this topic today and spotted that escaping the forward slashes in the URL or replacing them with HTML entities no longer made the link just appear as text e.g. without it automatically become a hyperlink, but also that the embedded Sketchfab 3D content no longer appeared.

The only way I have been able to get around this is to not blockquote that bit of content, which looks a bit rubbish.

Because I don’t tend to read my own How Tos that often I hadn’t noticed this change previously, as such it may have been like it for sometime.

Any thoughts? Is there any reason why Onebox’d content cannot appear in a blockquote?

The following was going to be an example, but it’s behaving differently here to our own hosted version;

Here’s something pretty to see;

Desert Bridge by McFuzz - 3D model - Sketchfab

In the above, it looks like some part of the Onebox’ing has worked, it has the title of the model, but on our hosted version, only the link is appearing.

Here’s something pretty to see;

…and in the above, I can’t have the model in the blockquote.

Plugin to rewrite external links on new posts

I want a plugin that will intercept all new (and modify existing post too) topic/post and rewrite external URL to something like following

http://google.com” —> “http://abc123.com/goto/http://google.com

The end goal here is to make all external links go through my domain (I will write script on abc123 for the redirect, that is not part of this job).

There are no existing posts on the forum, so only it does not need to any find-replace, only listen to new changes.

If the same functionality can be achieved through an adopted theme, that’s fine with me too.

Please post your offer below, I will PM you then.

Virus scanning of uploaded files

I’m currently looking into integrating Discourse with our existing web systems to provide a discussion forum for our site’s users. One of the requirements of our platform is that all uploaded files are checked for viruses prior to being made available for anyone to download.

Looking through the documentation, I can’t see any way to configure Discourse to use a virus scanner on uploaded files. Am I missing something?

Hi, as best I and a teammate can tell, there is something broken when a group owner tries to add a member to a group. In particular, the “+ Add Members” button is not responsive.

By contrast, as an admin (?), I view the following:

This “add members” button works well.

Cannot access to trustLevel "name"

@duranmla wrote:

Hi all,

Basically I am trying to accomplish a sort of flair around all the avatars within my platform which by now it is not a problem it is somewhere similar to the work done at: GitHub - tshenry/discourse-trust-level-avatar-flair but they only attach the flair to a single widget within the Discourse app and as expected, there are many others that won’t render that flair.

My real problem is that I have the user object but the trustLevel doesn’t provide me useful info, I have seen within templates statements like: trustLevel.name and I believed that with the user object I was able to do that but instead what I got a key that has “undefined” value:

03

  @computed("trust_level")
  trustLevel(trustLevel) {
    return Discourse.Site.currentProp('trustLevels').findBy('id', parseInt(trustLevel, 10));
  }

I am expecting that ^ method from user modal return something like:

Class {id: 1, name: "basic user", store: Class, __munge: ƒ, __ember1523976819326: null}

keep in mind the testUser is the same used below and return successfully:

Message 'receiver' not in view until they reply

@Dani1 wrote:

Hi!

When sending a message to someone, the interface only shows the subject line, not the receiver.

That had me stymied for a bit, until i mailed ‘myself’ (other account) and realised the user doesn’t appear until they reply. While that makes sense in the ‘forum section’, it doesn’t really make sense in the message section: it doesn’t provide any information. Finding a message back means you have to open them until you get the right one.

i know what my work-around is going to be (use the @name in the subject line), but a message typically has a specific recipient. Can this be reflected on the screen?

thanks!

on a sidenote: people are replying to those messages via email, which i’m sure is very convenient to them - but not so much for me. is there a setting to prevent that? thanks!

[Paid] Need infinity scroll disabled on homepage, category and sub category pages

@discouser wrote:

What would you like done?

We just need a simple plugin which will disable infinity scroll on homepage, category and sub category pages. Even if some JS in header or footer will do the job, it’s OK with us.

When do you need it done?

As soon as possible.

What is your budget, in $ USD that you can offer for this task?

We’re not sure, but hoping it’ll be easy for someone who are familiar with Discourse JavaScript code. Will pay for the time spent. Estimates are welcome!
