A feature request from one of our users:

  1. Write a post in the editor. Start with an introductory paragraph.
  2. Click the ordered list (or unordered list) button.
  3. Replace the highlighted "List item" text with your first list item.
  4. Press enter to move to a new line.
  5. The editor should pre-populate a second list item.

According to this user, this is how they expected the editor to behave (similar to Gmail and other editors).

I have funds, and willing to pay a fair price. My discourse install is going totally bonkers. the ruby task was up to 12 GB of virtual memory, and the whole machine was grinding to a halt. There is basically zero activity on this forum (like 10 posts in total), so i don't think it was a load thing. I just rebooted the server and its now using 100% CPU constantly.

My forum is here: forum.bid13.com

Please contact me if you are familiar working with discourse and need work.

Duplicate notifications for likes?

I've seen multiple notifications for "like" on a post here on meta:

Note the two arrows on the left indicate likes for the same post - where usually you only get one.

Also note the "solved" plugin notification in between (arrow on right) - perhaps it's related?

Possible Plugin Outlet use conflict

Continuing the discussion from Removing `Discourse` from handlebars templates:

I changed the DEPRECATIONs from {{#if Discourse.SiteSettings.___ to {{#if controller.siteSettings.___ and all looked well.

Until I installed the Solved plugin to give it a spin.

It seems that if the plugin-outlet-locations plugin is installed it breaks the Solved plugins use of topic-after-cooked so that it leaves only a comment Uninstalling the plugin-outlet-locations plugin fixes the Solved Plugin problem.

<div class="ember-view" id="ember1975">
  <div class="ember-view topic-after-cooked-outlet topic-after-cooked" id="ember1980">

    </span>
  </div>
  <div class="ember-view topic-after-cooked-outlet solved-panel" id="ember1985">
    <!---->
  </div>
</div>

The plugin-outlet-locations plugin shares plugin outlets With Tagger and Akismet without breaking those.
And it doesn't break the Category modal or the approved answer checkmark, only the display of "solved by ___ post #__" in the first post.

Sorry, I have no idea why it's breaking that outlet, but if it is a conflict issue I would be grateful to know the fix. I certainly don't want any of my plugins breaking other plugins.

Over at the Fairphone Forum we are still running Version 1.2.0.beta3. (and in the admin panel it says that's the latest version, but that's another issue)
I'm wondering if we can update our existing polls to fancy new polls without loosing the already submitted votes when the forum software gets updated.

Hi,
When I "./launcher rebuild app" my Discourse and try to enter to my Discourse forum, its shows "502 Bad Gateway" error.
I know it's just 10 minutes but I think it's more professional to show to our users a pretty error message when we update our Discourse.
Thanks you,
Miki

Several questions from a discourse newbie

@Fabian wrote:

Hey there,

I just found out about discourse and now I have several questions about it.

  1. It seems it is not really easy to install it. Im currently using a dedicated linux server with plesk I didnt find any way to install it easily?
  2. Is there any way to implement banners? If im going to use discourse for my future project I will need to add ads to get my money back.
  3. I figured out that some posts seem to appear twice if you reply to a specific comment. I dont know why this is, can you turn this off?
  4. Id like to use discourse in connection with wordpress, just like howtogeek does it. What kind of bridge do they use?

Thank you in advance, this software seems to be awesome, I really hope someone can answer this questions and that I am able to use it for my project smile

Moderation of Admin and Moderator Posts

$

@Mischief wrote:

We had set our Discourse installation so that all posts were moderated, including those from moderators and admins. We did this by setting a very high number of posts from a new user that must be approved and a low trust level for our admins and moderators.

Up until two days ago this was working fine, however we updated and it's no longer working. Messages from moderators and admins are now going through without moderation, despite no other changes to our accounts.

We found the ability to moderate their messages very useful in terms of having a double check on what was going out.

We're now using v1.4.0.beta2 +77

Has there been a change in the moderation settings for admins and moderators? Is there another way to have admin and moderator's posts moderated?

Thanks!

Flag dialogue is not fully accessible by keyboard in Chrome

@TechnoBear wrote:

Use the ! key to flag a post. In Firefox, it is possible to tab through and activate options as one would expect.

In Chrome (Windows 7 & 8) and Chromium (Ubuntu 15.04), tab goes from "off-topic" > the community guidelines link > Spam - then it goes to the browser URL bar, and the last two options are unreachable. "Inappropriate" is only reachable by using ShiftTab from the community guidelines link.

Happens on our instance, and here on Meta.

  1. There's this weird blue line above the post as shown above.
  2. Some white space around the highlight bar would be nice. smile

@Fabian wrote:

I just tried to install discourse on my dedicated ubuntu server. I followed this tutorial: https://github.com/discourse/discourse/blob/master/docs/INSTALL-cloud.md

of course I do not have a cloud or anything, but my server. I guess it should work anyways.

I am using the terminal of my mac. Here is the problem. After typing in:

"./launcher bootstrap app"

I get an error:

"Device "docker0" does not exist.
Cannot connect to the docker daemon - verify it is running and you have access"

What can I do? I thought everything went well until this point. Any ideas?

Category not always applying

This has happened a few times now - I've posted a thread but the category doesn't seem to associate (I have to move to a different category then back again).

When clicking on the thread and the edit icon next to the title - the category is actually showing! Very weird :/

Also, a few times on posting a new thread the 'you must choose a category' notice shows even tho there's already one present.

Any ideas what might be going on? Has it happened to anyone else?
