So I've gone searching for previous posts- and I've tried everything, including waiting a few days, clearing cache from everywhere I could think of, and also by logging in as a new user (non staff). Nothing works. Help, please??
I posted the following URL of Google Maps on my forum. This URL contains code that enables to replace the Japanese language with English in Google Maps.
Whenever I see the URL on Google Chrome, texts are successfully changed into English. However, once I put the link in my Discourse forum, the Japanese texts remain as they are. They did not change into English.
The default language of this Discourse is English at the moment. I want to let my forum show English texts rather than the Japanese texts.
A simple plugin to create, edit and destroy static pages. Find it here
How it works: - install the plugin - go to Admin > Plugins > Pages - click on New and create a page via the WYSIWYG editor - visitors will be able to navigate the pages via a new section in their hamburger menu
Thank you very much for all the work done on Discourse.
I'm running it and I'm facing an unexpexted issue. I did not find any similar topic around the Web with my favorite search engine
When I try to upload a FreeCAD file *.FCStd Discource "recognize" it as a *.pdf.
As an example if I upload a file called file.FCStd after the file will be uploaded the link in the post will link to a gibberish name like /uploads/default/original/1X/bcd765d5807215c5eb3692412248f6abbf278ab2.pdf. The annoying part is the extension of the file
Is there an easy way to do this? We're consolidating two discourse instances - the one I'm exporting from to import into the other doesn't have that many posts ( < 100).
I'm trying to paste a regular link into a post so that it's visible as that link, but for some links Discourse fetches an image from the url and show it instead. How can I show a link so that the link text is the url itself but Discourse doesn't try to replace that link with any fetched content?
I am currently experimenting with a discourse plugin settings.yml file and playing with the available formats the admin setting fields can be set to. Example that display a checkbox:
I'm deploying this project successfully to a locally based virtualbox through docker-machine. All is working well. When I go to deploy elsewhere I'm consistently getting this same timeout error. Of note, of the 40~ times I've tried it has worked three times. Anyone seen this?

Is it possible to provide to users of the forum some kind of code, which they can put on their blogging platform (Wordpress, Blogger etc) so that whenever they post a new blog entry, it automatically appears as a new topic on discourse? Will be good if old blog posts can also be pulled in as new topics.
Here are a couple of plugins for oneboxing audio file uploads. The first one allows the Discourse audio onebox to work for uploaded files by testing if an upload is an audio file. If it is, the absolute path to the file is returned and the browser's built in audio player is displayed.
The second one overrides the Discourse audio onebox and instead displays a customizable audio player. It is built with the j-player.js library. The idea could be used to work with other audio plugins, or a completely custom audio player.
Sorry for tirade of daft questions. A few quick ones here: 1. I can't block users, only suspend them (there isn't a "block" button or option, only suspend). 2. I've tried suspending a user, but they don't get a message (you've been suspended), and when they try to click the forum link, they just get an error message. they have a "1" on their name badge but clicking it doesn't make anything happen. Can I fix that so they will get a message (You've been suspend from the forum due to XYZ), or alternatively make it so that when they try and click the forum they get a "you are denied access/suspended/whatever from this forum"?
The person who sends out the New User Guidance PM is one of our programmers (because he was the one who set up the initial forum). However, I don't want it to come from him- but me (for various reasons). How can I change that setting? I looked here on Meta and couldn't find anything (other than above thread) and can't find in the forum the place to change it.
I just acted on a flag with the "Hide post + PM user" action. I think this was the first time I did it, and I wasn't expecting it to just send a automated PM for me. Every other "send a PM" action in Discourse triggers a self-composed PM.
I also didn't know that it would be sending from our designated site_contact_username, in Meta's case @codinghorror.
I'm suggesting two changes:
Create pre-composed message instead of sending it straight away
I would have preferred to add an extra line or two about why I exactly I was hiding this post. It was from a brand new user who had just misunderstood the difference between Meta and Try.
The PM should be sent by the moderator
It makes much more sense that the PM comes from me. I'm the one who did the moderation, and I'm the one who should be notified if the user replies to the PM.
In cases when the moderator should be kept anonymous, just log in as the @system user.
So @Falco flagged a post and I acted on it, which results in a PM with an original sender and a reply from a moderator.
Here's what I see on my end:
Here's what he sees on his end:
That doesn't seem right.
p.s. Especially with the advent of improved group mentions, should a Group also be listed as a participant in the user list? Before any individual moderator has acted on the PM, this is a PM between @userX and @moderators.
I think treating Moderators as just another user to list in the participants list makes sense as a way to see at a glance who can see this message.
