I've been trying to add cloudflare cdn to my discourse forum. Couldnt find any direct tutorials or faqs. I added my domain to cloudflare, configured the cdn option, got my cloudflare name servers and then changed my digital ocean name servers to the ones that I got. After a while my forum was down.
I added the template to my yml file for cloudflare ssl, tried to rebuild everything. No luck. Site was down.
So I went to my previous setup with Lets Encrypt free SSL, removed all the code for cloudflare, changed my name servers back to digital ocean and now everything is working.
How do you guys installed this cdn? I'm building a small forum/first forum, so I don't want to pay for CDN. So if there're any other free alternatives for this that would be ok too.
Any help would be appreciated.
ps: I was leaning towards the idea that site was down due to the name servers changing from Digital Ocean to Cloudflare. Any ideas?

I want to rename a user called UserName to Username. Will this affect quotes? There are no mentions yet, but for completeness, please answer that as well.
If you change your username, all prior quotes of your posts and @name mentions will be broken. Are you absolutely sure you want to?
Is there a way to default the frontpage to display latest page on mobile, while on desktop displaying the categories+latest combined view? I'm currently trying to figure this out.
I'm now seeing a bunch of messages about SSO combined with HTTPS redirection, but for now, I'm currently unable to login as Admin to toggle the settings. Is there a way to do the same thing via SSH?
I've been getting user complaints since our upgrade to v1.8.0.beta1 +3 last week, so this seems to be due to a recent change (sorry we don't have an older environment for me verify).
We are an environment that requires all users to be logged in via SSO to be able to interact with our forum.
Before the upgrade, a user could click on a link to a file in their email (either from a digest for mailing list mode) and download the associated file. It appears this could happen even if they weren't logged into Discourse.
After the upgrade, when a user clicks on a link to a file from their email and they haven't logged in, they get a 404 error.
What were getting is regular complaints from users that the links we're sending via email are broken because they don't know that they need to log in FIRST and then click on the link.
While I'm in favor of not allowing them to view the file until they log in, it is confusing to them that it generates a 404 error. I think that a 401 or a 403 with the prompt to log-in via SSO would be more appropriate.
There is no icons before Activity and Summary tabs at the users' profile page. I'd would like to add them using Font Awesome in order to have things well-ordered, is there a way to make it happen?
Hi, So the parameters for an SMTP login in the containers/app.yml file specify a username, password, and smtp server along with the relevant information required to login. I was wondering whether it would be possible to set the primary email of the service that sends out emails to one that is different from the DISCOURSE_SMTP_USER_NAME email. I currently have an organization with Google Apps that has 3 domains tied to it. While I currently only use one of the domains as my primary email address, I have the other 2 domains set up as alias's. So I login to my gmail using username@domain1.com, but i can also send emails from that account using username@domain2.com and username3@domain3.com. Is there anyway to tell the app to differ my SMTP_USER_NAME from the email address used to send out mail?
I added a simple CSS change via Admin>Customize>CSS/HTML and hit save. It was a simple CSS addition based on wanting to adjust the position of our logo in the header a few pixels. When I look in Chrome Dev tools, I do not see the new style. I even used "Empty Cache and Hard Reload" with Chrome. No go.
Is there some caching with Discourse that I can clear that might be the culprit?
I noticed today on my website that the YouTube links I posted double-spaced had no padding between the videos, but when one of our members posted single-spaced YouTube links, the padding was there. The interesting thing is that the opposite is true in the post preview. This may be also be the case for more than just YouTube videos, but I haven't thoroughly tested yet.

After I rebuilt our Discourse last night, I'm unable to upgrade Discourse or plugins from /admin/upgrade. Here's the console error I get when clicking the "Start Upgrading" button, which briefly toggles to gray before reverting back to blue:

I'm currently trying my hand at a new (simple) plugin. A folder of images will be 'globbed' at server startup and an array of filenames will be generated. The user will then be able to see this list via a combo-box in preferences and then select whichever one they like. the resulting image will then be displayed on the user-card/profile.
That's it!
However, I'm really stumped. passing the array from the server to the client is where I'm getting stuck. There seems to be a rather large gulf between @eviltrout 's great beginners guides and tackling Ember proper.
I'm pretty sure I need to read the folder contents in plugin.rb and init the array. do I pass the variable with an initializer? Do I need a controller? should I reopen the Preferences Controller and add the variable there? I've downloaded a few Discourse plugins to see how other people do it, but I feel that they're probably way more advanced than what I need to do.
Can anyone give me any pointers or a good general Ember guide? Cheers!
"Micro" feature but would be possible to create a badge count column on the users page? Some of the more stats chasing types are keen to see how they rank on my site.
Plus if badges are a way to encourage and measure engagement it should probably be on that page?
The count could either be static (meaning it always shows all badges ever) or probably, to be consistent, it should also cover badges granted over the time-period as specified at the top of the page.
