Styling anchors in email digest

Continuing the discussion from Styling email digest:

I did a lot of searching and came up lacking. Is there a way to alter the styling of the email digests? The only thing I'm interested in changing is the anchor text. I'd like it to match the rest of my site's branding. I couldn't find a way to do it through the Customize feature, but I may not be thinking about it right. Thanks.

Large image resize - why only 64% scaling at most?

@scottfsmith wrote:

I am happy that large image uploads are now being resized, but its not taking a 4.6MB image down to 1MB - I recently set the max image size to 1024K and tried uploading a 4.6MB image and got a too-large error.

Looking at the code it is doing a 80%-resize up to 2 times and if its not small enough by then it fails (I am looking at https://github.com/discourse/discourse/blob/42a523a3beae3fa646cff5bd4a7a822497a1a06a/app/controllers/uploads_controller.rb) - ?? That will do at most a 64% resize which will not get 6MB to 1MB - ? Why is it so limited?

Browsers scroll view slightly when opening "reply to" popup

@FichteFoll wrote:

Didn't find a report of this, although I have seen it for a while.

I can reproduce this with FireFox 43 (and earlier) and Chromium 45.

When I click on the "reply to link" to open the popup of the post replied to, the view scrolls ever so slightly which is oddly unsettling. But only now I have noticed that the scroll gap seems to be as large as the padding of that post, and it proved to be right, because setting the following CSS solves the issue:

.embedded-posts.top.topic-body {
  padding: 0;
}

Did you (or some framework you use) perhaps miss padding (which is 12+15px by default) in your calculations?

Gif showcasing the issue:

I am also unsure about the doubled border-top placement here. Imo, the upper border should have full width, while he second one should either be small as it is now or not exist at all (in which case some white space could be removed). Static screenshot in this post.

Group owners and members can't see their own group unless "Group is visible to all users"

I've just been exploring the new group owners for managing group membership functionality and am loving it! We're going to really start using this.

One bug we found is that group owners and group members are not even able to see the group unless "Group is visible to all users" setting is ticked. This seems backward to me. I think they should be able to see the group. Members need to see it to participate properly and owners need to see it to be able to manage the group members.

@tobiaseigen wrote:

Not sure if this has come up before but no combination of search terms pulled it up.

It would be helpful if admins and moderators had access to an admin function to convert a private message between a few people or within a group into a full blown topic in a category. This can be very useful on our site where many great conversations start in private.

My folks are rarely engineers. One such needs to constantly redo or upgrade the tabular sitemap using everyday apps (such as Google Docs). It needs to easily replace the sitemap we want to 'front-end' Discourse. My users are assume to be technically illiterate, thus the site-map is a requirement for us. I'd be delighted to receive suggestions or hear from someone. Many thanks.

Add more logging to email failures?

@watchmanmonitor wrote:

I'm getting this in my logs sometimes.. and since POP email is working, I can't guess what's up.

Job exception: getaddrinfo: No address associated with hostname

If we could get more details logged.. what server was being looked up, maybe which dns was consulted, and if all 5 errors happened at 1:50pm (see attached), it could make troubleshooting easier.

TIA

How to hide the setting "Send me an email for every new post"?

@ljpp wrote:

Just realized that this is a freaking dangerous setting, when someone on my board enabled it.

If you have lots of users and thousands of weekly new posts, this setting is going to exhaust your email service plan, costing a lot of money. This really should be a admin-only feature IMHO.

How do I hide or disable this setting from the end-users?

@ljpp wrote:

Is there a one central document/post somewhere that explains the whole New/Unread -messages concept and how it is shown in the different user interface elements? Balloons, top menu, burger menu etc.

I keep getting questions regarding this, and you know what - I can't give them a holistic answer, even after using Discourse myself for 1.5 years. The whole concept is kind of mind boggling,.

I would expect the standard emoji image replacement to occur.
